Dear BHTOM Observers,

Some time in mid-October, the next EE Cephei eclipse will begin.
It should take more or less two months. This star is very interesting for
a variety of different reasons.
Multiband photometry will be greatly appreciated, during, before and after
the eclipse. EE Cep is now well visible throughout the entire night.
The depth is hard to predict because it depends on the orientation/structure
of the dark precessing disk. Historically, EE Cep’s eclipses have ranged
roughly 0.6–2.0 mag in V. For context, the 2014 eclipse ended up being
~0.71 mag (V) - much shallower than expected - illustrating the uncertainty
in advance forecasts.

Here are some major papers about the star:
https://www.aanda.org/articles/aa/pdf/2020/07/aa37181-19.pdf
https://www.aanda.org/articles/aa/pdf/2003/21/aah4182.pdf
https://arxiv.org/pdf/0910.0432

And AAVSO campaign details: https://apps.aavso.org/v2/campaigns/894

Observing campaigns of EE Cep are a great opportunity for a major
community as ours to greatly contribute to scientific research.

On behalf of the BHTOM Team,
With kind regards,
P.J.Mikołajczyk
