All,
I went to the Booster Club Meeting on Monday. They need support from parents and friends of boosters. That is the largest obstacle for this group based on what I saw during the meeting. They are few in numbers and big in tasks.
There are two ways that we can step-up as a group (The Hockey Parents), which I think will be minimally invasive to our time. The first way is really a no-brainer as I see it. The Boosters sells event passes, which work for all games that require an admission fee. The passes are tiered:
- Family = $75
- Couples = $50
- Singles = $30
- Student = $20
We can purchase the passes from the Boosters at any home game where there is an admission charge. Buy one at next week’s football game and not pay an admission fee for any of our boy’s hockey games, AND we can get into any other games this year. They are currently being printed and we can be the trend setters. It is a great idea and in the long run will end up saving you money.
The second way we can help is to volunteer to do concessions. If we all signed up for a soccer or football game this fall it would help them greatly, and we can enjoy a game. Dan Feeney (Boosters President) and I have talked about the option to get others to sign-up for some of our game duties, like goal judge. That is something that has to be worked out. It is a bit of a different animal as it isn’t revenue generating, but it is help that is needed, and we could get to “watch” more of our kids’ games. At any rate, volunteering helps the Boosters to run their club, and gain revenues. Those revenues are a huge part of their fund raising and how they can support/supplement programs.
To sign up for concessions email Dan Feeney – d...@northstarleasing.com or Fritz Senftleber - senftle...@yahoo.com , or just stop by the concessions stand at the next game you are at (after all the more you go the cheaper they get with the Booster pass) and sign up . October homecoming is a particularly tough weekend and there are many opportunities to help. There is a schedule posted on the school website where you can see the schedule of games that require work, or just learn more about the Boosters. http://booster-club.bhs.bsd.schoolfusion.us/modules/groups/integrated_home.phtml?gid=2377655&sessionid=5a1af9fb7bcda9dee86b6f9ee784edd5
I hope we can all participate in either of these activities or both, and show our commitment to the success of the Boosters Club. The better off they are the more they may be able to help the programs that we have been fighting for over the last 4 or 5 months.
Thanks all. See you soon,
