I had a nice talk with Lou on the phone yesterday.  He is very excited to be taking over the program, and fully committed for the long term. 

 

What he’d like to do is first sit down with Jeanne Hulsen to get up to speed on the school’s rules and expectations, and then once he’s done that he will give me a call so we can help him set up a meeting with the players and parents.  I’m not sure yet if he wants to meet first with parents and players as a group or with those subgroups separately, but he definitely wants to establish open lines of communication with everyone.  I don’t think I went out on a limb by telling him that I don’t think he’ll have any parents breathing down his neck – that the parents are all highly motivated to make this a fun and positive experience for everyone involved.  He was glad to hear that.

 

Lou said his wife’s due-date is Tuesday, so his schedule remains in flux.  He indicated he will likely meet with Jeanne either later this week or sometime next week, and after he does he will give me a call.  I’ll be in touch with you when I hear from him.

My name is Karen Poulin and I have a son Connor who will be a Freshman in the fall at BHS. I have 4 kids ages 14, 12, 9 and 7 who have been playing hockey with BAHA since they could stand. I'm also VP of House for BAHA so I have a vested interest in the boys hockey program at BHS. I have been happy to see the BHS hockey program continue, the kids and parents have done a great job!

My email is regarding the Green Mtn. Avalanche High School Summer league at Cairns. It is an opportunity for teams from surrounding High Schools to play this summer. I understand that players on the team have expressed interest in putting a team together this summer. From what I can understand a list went around and these were the kids who expressed interest: Jacob Carr, Alex Callahan, Zach Mills, Jacob Smalley, and possibly Paul Truman. I think that there could be 4-5 BAHA kids who will be freshman next year who might be interested. I'm emailing to see if there are more kids who are interested in playing. The cost for the league is $3200 and which consists of 10 games from June 16th-July 26th. I have attached the schedule from last summer so that parents and players could look at what the schedule might look like. I know that many kids play baseball in the summer or swim, so this will give you an idea if it would work with your schedule.

If we get 12-15 players the cost would be $266-$213/player. We would need to give Bob Leonard from GMA a deposit of $600 by May 1st. If your player is interested please let me know asap, we need a commitment from players by April 24th. and a down payment by May 1st.

I think this would be a great opportunity for the kids to skate together this summer!

Hi Karen,

Please let me know how I can help. I guess you fell into the "organizer" position for the  BHS summer league.....   Thank you for reaching out to everyone.  Yes, I am confirming that Jacob wants to play.  However, Jacob will be away for some of the time-which I am certain will be a theme for summer team players.

May 1st is fastly approaching, so let's get a team together!!!!!  This is a great venue for more ice time for the team, and hopefully a competitive leg up going forward. All the local high school teams participate in the summer hockey program. Unfortunately, BHS has been at a competitive disadvantage for the last 4 years, as the fall hockey season begins, because the kids haven't played together for a year.

Right now it doesn't look like we have enough kids, we really need at least 15 players so that we have at least 10 showing up to games.
