8th Grade Parents Only: 8th Grade Party Planning Meeting Follow-up
Thanks to all that came out in the cold last Tuesday evening for the kick off meeting for the 8Th grade EOY party! We had this meeting so that anyone interested in participating had the chance to get involved right from the start.
We had a good turn out and lots of discussion as well as many signed up to work on various committees.
We still need volunteers for setup, clean-up and a few more chaperones. Please email Melissa Gerndt at meliss...@hotmail.com if you would like to help on any of these committees.
The next step is that the co-chairs for the party will decide on the distribution of the budgeted money available. This will be done in a manner very similar to prior years distribution percentages. We will meet with the committee co-chairs and let them know how much money they have been allocated for their committee and get the process rolling. We will then meet with all the co-chairs in about a month to hear what the committees have come up with and decide as a group on theme, food, entertainment, class gift etc.
We have decided to incorporate some kind of community service project for the kids to participate in. At the initial meeting last Tuesday the group in attendance came up with three charities that will impact our local community. Laura Silberman and Karen Weiss have met with Mr. Honeyman to help us with this. He was very interested and excited about the idea. He plans to help us enlist the students participation. Thanks Mr. Honeyman!!
Again, thanks to all that attended. There will not be another general meeting. All meetings from here forward will be the individual committee meetings and the committee co-chairs will notify those that signed up to help on their committee via email of the meeting time and date.
We are off to a great start!!
