Finishing up the semester

Good morning folks,
We have a week left before break! Late last week I disseminated a
review sheet for the AP final examination that is next week. This
examination is 20% of your child's grade for the first semester.
(Quarter 1 and Quarter 2 are both 40% of the grade.)

Thursday of this week your student has an ethic essay due in class.
This is for a $500 sholarship contest that is sponsored by the
Williams Institute in which BHS participates yearly. One Basha junior
will win the contest, as it's by school and grade level. Moreover, in
July all students completed a 50+ multiple choice examination in class
over a 1 1/2 hour period. Last week I handed out another one of
similar length that is due on Thursday; this one also requires a
rationale for each answer.

The independent reading book list for quarter 3 has been announced.
The books include:
Kite Runner
Catcher in the Rye
Wuthering Heights
A Lesson Before Dying
The Fountainhead
Crime and Punishment
The Picture of Dorian Gray

Lastly, if your child did Dual Enrollment, then he or she has an
opportunity to enroll in English 102 with me through MCC for Spring
2010. Some colleges require English 101 and English 102 to be
completed before they graduate high school to receive the credit. This
course is entirely ONLINE so they do not need to travel to MCC but
they will still see me at BHS each day. Here's the information for
