MELDE NORRIS C.jpg
Noris Calvin Melde of Bishop, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at the age of 89. Noris was born on February 14, 1933 to Elmo and Minnie Melde of Bishop, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, Papa, uncle and friend to anyone who spent more than a few minutes with him.

Noris graduated from Bishop High School in 1951 and went to proudly serve our country in the United States Army. He married the love of his life Frances Roberts, in 1957 after only six months of dating. Noris said he knew she was the one for him after their first date, and spent his life thanking God for blessing him with Frances. After being discharged from the Army, he returned home and spent his life farming on his family’s property at Concordia and working for the United States Postal Service.  Together, Noris and Frances considered their children, Bruce, Jeff, and Celeste to be their greatest joys.

Noris was a dedicated husband and loving father who enjoyed life and knew everything he had been given was a gift from God. He was a member and served his Lord faithfully at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bishop, Texas. Throughout his life, he instilled core values of faith and family in his children, and later passed those values along to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  As “Papa” he always had a story to share, whether in English or German, and was a bright light to everyone in the family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Minnie Melde, and his brothers, Odell and Elmer Lee Melde.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances (Roberts) Melde; his sons and daughters in law,  Bruce (Bobbie) Melde of Hutto, Jeff (Tina) Melde of Bishop, and Celeste Lesmeister of Georgetown; nine grandchildren, Shawna (Dee) Maedgen of Troy, Codi Melde of Corpus Christi, Nichole Melde of Belton, Jordan Lesmeister of Cedar Park, Cheyenne Melde of Corpus Christi, Dakota Melde of Corpus Christi, Reagan Lesmeister of Leander, Madison Lesmeister of College Station, JB Melde of Bishop; four great-grandchildren, Bailey, Kaitlyn and Emily Maedgen of Troy and Aria Newman of Belton, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews/great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bishop, Texas. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, September 12, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Lutheran Concordia Cemetery in Bishop, Texas.

Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 East Main Street, Alice, Texas.
