Dale Leon Moerbe went home to be with Jesus at the age of 73 on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Dale was a life-long member of the Bishop Community and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bishop, Texas. He was baptized November 21, 1948, by Rev. Elmer H. Riese and confirmed April 15, 1962, by Rev. E. H. Sanders.  He served his church in various offices and was a member of the adult choir for over 30 years.
Dale is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marilyn, and they fell more in love with each other every day of their lives together. He is also survived by two sons: Nathan (Crystal) and Allen. He is survived by three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his sister, Bonnie Bradshaw (Cliff) and his brother, Lindell Moerbe (Sally). He leaves numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Lorine Moerbe. Dale began his education in the Concordia Community at St. Paul Lutheran School, attending through Grade 8 before transferring to Bishop High School. He graduated in 1966 and went on to graduate from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas, in 1970 with a degree in Political Science and Sociology.   Dale served six years in the Army National Guard and was a Life member of the American Legion at Post 185 in Bishop, Texas. In 1972, Dale, his father, Wallace Moerbe, and his uncle, Wilbur Moerbe, incorporated Moerbe Insulation which operated in Bishop until 2017.
Dale and Marilyn loved to fish, hunt, cave, water ski, travel and visit with friends.  Dale played the guitar, loved to sing, and knew the words to many, many songs.  His Halloween Pumpkin Contest friends remember him as having the illusion of pumpkin-carving excellence. He loved to tell stories and jokes and to just talk in general. He was a gentle soul who loved his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 10:30 am. Both will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 801 East Main Street, Bishop, Texas.
