Michael Ralph Denkeler, age 69, passed away September 18, 2021 in Kingsville, Texas. He was born on November 02, 1951 in Kingsville, Texas, to Raymond and Bernice Denkeler.

He was confirmed April 11, 1965 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bishop, Texas. Mike married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life JoAnn Lindsey on April 8, 1972 in Bishop. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for nine years, including four years aboard the USS Enterprise and three years as a recruiter in Corpus Christi, Texas. After leaving the Navy, he worked at Furmanite, Inc. out of Houston, Texas for nine years travelling all over the country. He finally settled back in Bishop in 1989 working as an operator at Celanese until his retirement. Mike was a longtime and active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bishop where he was currently serving as an Elder. For 43 years he was a member of the American Legion Post 185 and served as the commander for the last two and a half years. He was also a member of the VFW Post 2375 for four years.  Mike gladly donated blood to the Coastal Bend Blood Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he gave over 25 gallons of blood, potentially helping over 500 individuals throughout his lifetime.

Mike was an avid hunter but what he lived for was to go fishing, especially with his family. When he wasn’t traveling with his wife or cooking, Mike loved spending time with his family, notably with his granddaughters, passing down family traditions while also making new ones. Kahlan loved baking her great grandmother Denkeler’s snickerdoodles and lemon cake with him, and Mina loved making pickles with him, which he learned from his parents. Mina also enjoyed making sausage with him, his brothers, and her dad. Sharing these pastimes with his wife, children  and grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Denkeler and Bernice Dutschmann Denkeler.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, JoAnn Lindsey Denkeler of Bishop, Texas; two children, Dain (Tawnya) Denkeler of Kingsville, Texas and Lana Denkeler of Austin, Texas; two granddaughters, Kahlan Denkeler of Austin, Texas and Mina Denkeler of Kingsville, Texas; three brothers, Glenn (Maxine) Denkeler of Dickinson, Texas, Robert (Jeannette) Denkeler of Pleasanton, Texas, and Clyde Denkeler of Bishop, Texas; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 801 E. Main St. Bishop, Texas.

Service will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 10:00 am, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with Rev. Matthew Ulmer. Burial following at the Concordia Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 801 East Main in Bishop, Texas 78343; American Legion Post 185, 400 Texas St. Bishop, Texas 78343; Coastal Bend Blood Center, 209 N. Padre Island Dr. Corpus Christi, Texas 78406.
