Sue K. Laabs, age 75, of Houston, Texas passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025.

Born on June 6th, 1949, in Kingsville, Texas to parents John Groves Korman and Dora Maudean Morgan, Sue would go on to attend Bishop High School from 1964 to 1967 and Bellaire High School in 1967, before continuing her education at Texas A&I Kingsville beginning in 1967 and graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a specialization in Elementary Education. Just one year following her graduation, Sue would marry Perry Laabs in 1972.

A dedicated teacher, Sue would strive to help her students. She became certified as a Dyslexia Specialist and a Master Reading Teacher.

Sue was an active member in her community, joining a Panhellenic sorority and eventually becoming President of the Bay Oaks Women’s Association and President of the Parent Teacher Association. She also co-founded Assistance League- Operation School Bell, a nonprofit organization assisting families by providing new clothes and school supplies for children within Clear Creek ISD.

A natural entertainer, Sue would focus on the details by creating beautiful tablescapes. She was an avid mahjong player and enjoyed rolling dice playing Bunco, but her visits with her grandchildren always brought her the most joy.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, John Groves Korman and Dora Maudean Morgan.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Perry L. Laabs, daughter Amber Elizabeth Woodall (Jason), son Andrew Christopher Laabs (Coree), brother John Thomas Korman, and her doting grandchildren Shane Woodall, Gracie Woodall, Jude Laabs, Jolene Laabs, and Ezra Laabs.

The family would like to give special thanks to the dedicated doctors and nurses at M.D Anderson Cancer Center.

A Celebration of Life for Sue Laabs will take place at Bay Oaks Country Club on Friday, May 23rd, 2025 at 1:00 PM, 14545 Bay Oaks Blvd, Houston, TX 77059. Drinks and lite bites will be served.
