Alejandro “Kaki” Gonzalez, of Bishop, Texas, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2022 in Kingsville, Texas. He was born September 26, 1930 in Bishop, Texas to Eulalio Gonzalez and Guadalupe Alvarez.

Alejandro was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He worked at Reynolds Refinery, Brown and Root and Louis Butane.

Alejandro loved to go to Mexico with his family and eat cabrito. He loved watching In The Heat of the Night and The Young and The Restless. He also liked to make BBQ, buy lottery scratch tickets, drinking cokes and eating chocolate candies, and he especially loved to go to Doc’s bar in Bishop, in the evenings.

Alejandro was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 55 years, Elosia Gonzalez; son, Larry Gonzalez; son-in-law, Edward Ramirez; grandson, Adolfo Contreras, Jr.; granddaughter, Kelly Roberts and his two brothers.

He is survived by his children, Anna (Adolfo) Contreras of Bishop, Texas, Sylvia G. Ramirez of Bishop, Texas, Alejandro (Cynthia) Gonzalez, Jr. of Alice, Texas, Hilda Gonzalez of Bishop, Texas, Abel Gonzalez of Kingsville, Texas, Lucy (Russell) Roberts of Plano, Texas and Nick (Mari) Gonzalez and their son, Gavin; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Julian Gonzalez of Ingleside, Texas; sister, Maria Soliz of Bishop, Texas and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with Holy Rosary to be recited at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church, 603 W 3rd St, Bishop, TX 78343.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at St. James Catholic Church. Rites of Christian Burial will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery, Bishop, Texas.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Corpus Christi Hospice for all their love, care and compassion for their father. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Holmgreen Mortuary, 2061 East Main Street, Alice, Texas.
