Kathleen Florence Pitts, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, and 3rd-grade schoolteacher at KISD for 30 years,
went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2024. She was born in Alice, TX, on
February 5, 1934, to Oren and Opal Wilson. Kathleen's passion for
education led her to earn a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education
from Texas A & I University in Kingsville, TX, after graduating from
William Adams High School in Alice, TX, in 1951.
In 1989,
Kathleen retired to marry the love of her life, Robert 'Bob' Pitts. They
met through mutual friends, attended a Celanese Christmas party
together, and immediately fell in love. With the words, "I do", Kathleen
not only became a devout wife, but she also gained an entire family.
Throughout her life, Kathleen touched the hearts of many with her
kindness and devotion to both her family and faith. She was known as an
amazing woman - caring, compassionate, and a devout Christian. Kathleen
shared her creativity through various hobbies such as needlework,
quilting, ceramics, and solving word find puzzles. She found joy in
going on cruises with her husband, Bob Pitts, exploring 24 different
countries together with Santorini, Greece holding a special place in her
heart. One of Kathleen's cherished traditions was creating handmade
felt stockings for the entire family during Christmas and crafting
beaded ornaments for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her love
for arts and crafts shone brightly as she poured her heart into every
stitch and bead.
Kathleen Pitts is survived by her loving husband
Robert 'Bob' Pitts; stepdaughter Kathyren Lemke (Mike) of Victoria, TX;
stepsons Karl Pitts (Ellie) of Bedford, TX, Keith Pitts (Brianne) of
Kalamazoo , MI; daughter-in-law Kelly Pitts of Sugarland, TX;
grandchildren Keven Lemke (Jessie), Steven Lemke, Dylan Pitts (Beth),
Reid Pitts, August Pitts, Emma Pitts, and Drew Pitts of Bedford, TX;
great-grandchildren Parker Lemke, Hayden Lemke, Maybelle Lemke, Gracie
Lemke, Colten Lemke; niece Marci Dutt of Simpsonville, SC ; nephew
Stanley Dutt of Michigan; foreign exchange student Rasmus Gronbaek (Lene
Hammer) of Aarhus, Denmark; and numerous extended family members.
She
is preceded in death by her parents Oren C. Wilson and Opal M. Smith
Wilson; siblings Orileen Dutt (Marlin), Velma Winzer (Tom Sr.); stepson
Kirk Pitts; and nephew Tom Winzer, Jr.
Services to honor and
celebrate Kathleen's life will be held at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in
Kingsville on March 8, 2024. The visitation will take place at 8:00 AM
followed by the funeral service at 10:00 AM, with an interment to follow
at Restland Cemetery, Bishop.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Sunny Glen Childrens Home or St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
Kathleen
Florence Pitts will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her
unwavering love and beautiful spirit that continues to live on in the
hearts of those she touched.
