Dr. DeWitt Talmage Lee, Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. DeWitt Talmage Lee, Jr.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and member of the Bishop community.

 

He was born on December 3, 1932, in Driscoll, Texas and passed away on November 25, 2023.  He graduated from Robstown High School, Texas A & I University, and University of Texas Dental School.  While at Texas A & I he met and was married to his wife of 71 years, Wilda Jo Lee.  During his Senior year of dental school he entered the Air Force in Amarillo, TX and served for 3 years. They then moved to Bishop, TX in 1959 and opened a dental practice where he faithfully served the surrounding community for over 40 years.

 

He was a very respected leader in the Bishop community.  He was a Lifetime member of the Bishop Lion’s Club and active in the Bishop Chamber of Commerce, having served as President and also received the Outstanding Citizen Award.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bishop, serving in numerous leadership positions.

 

Of all his accomplishments, nothing made him prouder than his family.

 

Dr. Lee was preceded in death by his parents: DeWitt T. Lee, Sr. and Verda Mae Lee.

 

He leaves behind a grateful family who’ve been blessed immensely by his life and example. He is survived by his wife, Jo Lee, his children: Marsha Mackerer (Richard); Greg Lee (Cindy); Doug Lee (Laura); 6 grandchildren: Danny True(Christin), Grayson(Morgan) Lee, Britney Lee, Timothy Lee (Jessica), Nathan Lee(Lindzi), and Aaron Lee; and 6 great-grandchildren.

 

Family will receive condolences at 9:30 am on Sat., Dec. 2, 2023, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville with services following at 10am, all followed by a graveside service in the Restland Cemetery, Bishop, TX. Rev. John Valles, FUMC Bishop will be officiating.
