At last night’s Board of Education meeting, the Board of Education voted to appoint Randy Liepa, Ph.D., as Acting Superintendent of Bloomfield Hills Schools effective July 17, 2023, and as Interim Superintendent effective August 1, 2023, until such time that a new superintendent is hired and begins employment, or October 30, 2023, whichever occurs first. |

Dr. Randy Liepa worked in public education for 30 years and has extensive statewide experience in school administration and policy. He served eighteen years as a school Superintendent: twelve years as Superintendent at Livonia Public Schools and six years as Superintendent of the Wayne County Regional Education Service Agency (Wayne RESA). In 2014, Dr. Liepa was honored as the Region 9 Superintendent of the Year in Michigan as well as Administrator of the Year for the Michigan PTSA. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Hillsdale College, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Leadership from Michigan State University.

On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, the Board of Education held a Special Meeting for the purposes of reviewing the confidential candidate applications for the position of Superintendent. The Board of Education selected five candidates to interview. The first interview each night will begin at 6 p.m. The second interview on Monday and Tuesday will begin approximately 10 minutes after the completion of the first interview. |
On July 20, 2023, the Board of Education will hold a Special Meeting at 6 p.m. at Booth Center to determine which candidates will be invited to participate in second round interviews. Finalist interviews will be held during Special Meetings of the Board of Education scheduled for Tuesday, July 25 and Wednesday, July 26 at 6 p.m. at Booth Center (7273 Wing Lake Road).
All meetings/interviews are open to the public and will be livestreamed and recorded for later viewing. Those present at the interviews and watching via livestream/recordings will be provided an opportunity to provide feedback to the Board for their consideration. Students, staff, and community members are invited to engagement opportunities with the final candidates, facilitated by the Michigan Leadership Institute, on July 25 and July 26 at Booth Center (7273 Wing Lake Road): - Staff Engagement Q & A from 1 to 2 p.m.
