Welcome to the 16th edition of Earth Friendly Choices, yet another weekend morning of sharing and discussions on how to create a more sustainable world, a world that we could leave livable for future generations; what choices we could make as individuals and communities to enable that...

Elections are coming, Summer is coming....... the topics of this Saturday have a bearing on both!!

Talk 1 : "Be Local in Consumption. More so, with Governance; how devolution and decentralisation of power is critical to an environmentally and socially Just world", by Leo Saldanha. Followed by Q&A.

Talk 2: "Past, Present & Future of WATER - Wells, Lakes, Rains, Wastewater", by Vishwanath Srikantaiah. Followed by Q&A.

Speaker Profiles:

Leo F. Saldanha is full-time Coordinator of ESG. He has gained wide-ranging experience in the areas of Environmental Law and Policy, Decentralisation, Urban Planning and a variety of Human Rights and Development related issues, working across many sectors for over a decade. He is a keen campaigner on critical environmental and social justice issues and has guided several campaigns demanding evolution of progressive laws and effective action. He has creatively supported various distressed communities to secure justice through public interest litigations and advocacy efforts, arguing as party in person several public interest litigations, many of which have resulted in remarkable judgments.

Vishwanath Srikantaiah is the Founder of Rainwater Club, and Director, Biome Environmental Services Pvt. Ltd., He has 
has spent years working on urban water issues, especially rainwater harvesting, gray water reuse, ecological sanitation systems and sustainable water management issues. He has worked on drinking water solutions in the Fluoride affected rural areas and has also come up with ecological sanitation systems, poly-houses with rainwater harvesting systems, ground water recharge systems and integrated rural water management systems.
