I have a new job as Marketing Manager of AbilityNet, a charity that
helps people with disabilities to use computers to improve their
lives. So, after 16 years, it's my SCIP leaving party on Thursday 2
February and I'd love it you could come and say goodbye. I'll be in
the Eagle pub on Gloucester Road from 6pm, eating some of their lovely
grub, and will be there until the end of the night for beer and
convivial chit-chat.
Since helping to set up SCIP in the mid-1990s I've been very lucky to
have worked with some marvellous people on a huge range of projects -
from cybercafes on the beach to [drunken] awards ceremonies, virtual
festivals, haiku on mobile phones, fun and games in community centres
and much much more...
I've got all excited about a bunch of bright ideas, waffled on about a
load of half-baked nonsense and generally revelled in the wonderful
community spirit of Brighton, Hove and Sussex. When it's worked it's
been a privilege to be part of positive change in our local
communities, especially when it crosses the realms of community,
business and public sectors.
SCIP will continue without me, offering affordable web design and IT
services to charities and businesses. But it's time for me to go, so
please come and say goodbye. Whoever you are and whatever your
connection with SCIP may be it will be great if you can pop in for a
quick hello - or stay longer for an evening of reminiscing about all
that we have achieved at SCIP over the years.
Please reply so I can get an idea of numbers
Take care
Mark
