a good foot in for community reporters?

-----
We need to steward the Olympic Torch Route as it comes into Brighton and Hove on Monday 16 July , and leaves on Tuesday 17 July

We are recruiting community volunteers to help here to support our own staff. They would need to atttend a pre-event briefing session during the week before (the main briefing is afternoon of Friday 13th, but we are doing smaller ones for those who cannot make the 13th).

We need stewards just for route lining and ensuring safety from 1500-1900hrs on the Monday, or from 0630-0800hrs on the Tuesday.

I wonder if you could forward this request on to local community groups, LAT members and any others who you feel may be willing to offer their support.

The feedback from areas where the torch has already passed through is that these are wonderful community events, good fun, supporting the runners, and very well attended.

The stewarding will only involve route lining and ensuring safety, we have others already assigned for traffic management, parking enforcement etc, so these are non-conflict stewarding roles.

Volunteers should either contact me, or preferably email Ican...@brighton.hove.gov.uk

Thanks
Robin
