in the field of kannada classical theater, the yakshagana bayalaata, shree balipa Narayana bhagavatharu is considered unique and exceptional, in addition to being authentic, adhering to shastras and traditions, parampara, transmitted from earlier generation greats of this very important, endearing, enduring, beautiful, effective, inspiring, entertaining, educational, even spiritual, classical theater art form enjoying universal appeal, deep admiration from wide variety of viewers, diverse audiences.

shree balipa Narayana bhagavatharu sings with a deep wonderful mesmerizing voice which originates from very very very deep within his being, and carries with it not only beautiful melody, but also much thrust and energy,

with his special voice character described as "siri kanta" in kannada, (or sometimes called kanchina kanta, for sound analogy), he delivers divine energy to his listeners, perhaps we might say. the style, the voice, the singing, stands out, has its own special mark, standing and emphasis, and carries with it the potential for attractive, hypnotic, energetic, divine impact in the audience, in the listeners.

he was born in 1938 to parents balipa madhava bhat and saraswathi bhat in padre village, Kasaragod district, now in kerala state, india, was married to (now late) jayalakshmi, they have four sons, served yakshagana field for over 60 years, received many local and state awards, felicitation from overseas admirers also. his grandfather shree balipa Narayana bhat, was also considered as a great legendary figure, expert and leader in the field.
