It is two old photos above, from 1980s must be, Our good friends, Kannan Jayaram & Mythili & family, (at their then home in Manalapan, NJ). First photo has Mythili on the left with my wife Usha on the right. Kannan is seen in the second photo (with their child, maybe the second one perhaps).   

They had also helped much in the initial formation years to launch the HATCC temple efforts, For example, the general body type meeting to discuss the constitution and by-laws for the organization, and decision to file for formal registration was discussed and finalized at their home, in earlier 1988 perhaps, with about 30 people or so attending, and discussions led by Paul Rajan, our lawyer helping in the whole process,   

I had contacted and met with Paul Rajan in his office, in 1987 or so, and he kindly offered to volunteer his services freely to help, and I think he perhaps needed just one more reminder from me about it, and prepared the documents, as per my answers to his questions regarding the names, nature, goals etc details that were needed for the filing, and he also advised and guided me regarding the legal particulars.  

A mutual friend Naidu Pothuri, perhaps one of his clients, may have suggested this to me, to get help from lawyer Paul Rajan, whose name I also knew, from India Abroad newspaper, and I had also attended one of his free public immigration info meetings in 1981 or so, with him and another lawyer expert presiding, when I was a postdoc at Rutgers, but I did not talk to him there in person or ask any question there).  

Later on, in the second year, in mid 1989, after my one-year term was over, I had also requested him (Paul Rajan), to become the next President of HATCC organization, and lead it, (my term as initial Chairman was for two years, but President is for one year term). This I did utilizing the help of another friend (Shivagiri Nallicheri) as an intermediary to persuade him to accept it, as otherwise he was, would be, very reluctant, just like almost everyone else in the community, in those years.   

We had much opposition in the community then, people looked down upon us, will not follow through with the help they promised etc, would not want to associate with us, some would be willing to help us if it helped in their businesses etc,, playing back-stabbing type politics to help themselves by hurting us temple-effort-involved people was quietly ignored or condoned or considered okay then by the others, etc,   

But it is no longer that way in the Indian American Community, much good transformation has happened over the years since then. And, I am glad to say this, Very happy, very pleased about it.

I am thirumala raya halemane, originally from India, now settled in USA. I was fired from good job as scientist engineer from AT&T Bell Labs in 1992, causing  big shock to family, wife, children, siblings, others, and not able to find another job at same level, wife worked, although in shock, initially was targeted also, but later promoted, children also were targeted, and made to suffer, same with my brothers and sisters in India, but we have faced the challenges and trying to move forward in positive ways

There is a certain ease of living if one is part of the system, like having a good job or other income to pay for the bills, and in general, better economic conditions than in many other regions of the world, but now other parts of the world are also doing better in this sense. So, I am not able to really give you a great answer. "It is a free country", people used to say during conversations with me, years ago, including youngsters, and everyone does think or expect like that, and it has a good appeal, no doubt, despite all the various existing problem issues, racism, discrimination, etc, and there are people with origins from all over the world, from everywhere, and "anybody can be President", so there is some good value, good expectation, good measure of safety & confidence involved in the general acceptance of these notions, especially considering that for someone coming from India or the East, many differences are there as compared to the "mainstream", considered usually as a melting pot of Western cultures.

The reason why I came to the United States is very simple, because I have many investment companies in the United States that have business dealings with the United States, and this is a paradise for capital and a paradise for capitalists. In the country of capital, as long as you have money, you can try many new experiences and enjoy life without restraint. Of course, the law is inviolable.

Okay. but, WhatsApp, no I do not use it at present, did use it a lot for some years in the past. I think they have also banned me, just like facebook, twitter X, etc, also LinkedIn for some years, allowed back last year, on their own, for their own reasons. My mobile service was not three, and the company was deliberately hassling us, not co-operating, and to stop automatic monthly payments we had to cancel service, did not bother to get another mobile, no hurry for me.
