Me: Excellent. The various modern high technology communications tools and modern high speed easy transport availability has brought the whole world closer together, with great benefits, good living, also helps for better understanding, higher awareness, mutual friendship etc. The world is changing, transforming fast everywhere. Like they say that the world is a drama stage and we are actors. That means, we are born into the world, consider it as a stage, we live our lives on the world stage, so our life is our act, our daily living is itself our daily acting role, and when the acting is fully finished, our life is over. We have two sons Kavi and Shilpi, and in the future their leadership and contributions will be needed by the country usa, by people of usa, by the whole world including India where we parents of Kaviraj and Shilpi are from. They are born and brought up in usa and consider themselves fully as Americans, but exposed to both American and Indian cultures. Our goal is to enable them to rise to their higher potentials, fully and truly. It is in the nature of truth, nature of nature, nature of humanity. That is the only way forward. I was suddenly fired from my scientist engineer type job at AT&T Bell Labs in 1992 and it had caused severe shock to everybody in the family, children were small wife was at home then. Later she went to work and with her hard work, after some tough years, she was able to move higher in her profession with promotions and better salaries and we were saved, we survived, we did okay, this is despite strong powerful forces from behind the scenes acting against us and others in the family, including all our siblings on my side and my wife’s side also. We all have been targeted in all the places we have lived and visited, including usa, India, Canada, UK, Europe, Asia etc. Kavi and Shilpi were targeted even before they were born, starting in their mother’s womb and continuing afterwards. Perhaps, the targeting and focus on us may have started from my great grandfather’s generation in India. I never found a job like what I had, at that level, only small or part-time or temporary jobs. No problem. I have instead focused on our two sons Kaviraj and Shilpi and raised them as future presidents of usa, with that view/ outlook/ mindset- as the teachers in nursery and elementary schools inculcate this good feeling in a free self-governing democratic society, this is a great thing. We all love it. We are also seeking suitable brides for our two sons Kavi and Shilpi, and I am telling the whole world. Basically the boy and the girl have to like each other, respect each other, be willing to support each other. Then we bless. in the old photo here, from 1982 perhaps (?), we see our great friends, Dr Virendra Sharma, his wife Dr Krishna Sharma and family, & friends. Photo taken at their then home in Rochester NY when we visited briefly from Fredonia NY that we lived at the time.   

In Fall 1974, (?), I had first met Dr Virendra Sharma at University of Rochester in the campus bus going from River Campus to Whipple Park Apartments (married housing) that I was in to go to grocery shopping at nearby Wegmans, when he boarded it at the Medical Center / Student Health Office bus stop, for him to go home, and sat next to me in the bus. Then we talked, he took my phone number, later invited me for dinner. She made great food, poori bhaaji and more, which we much enjoyed. At the time he was a research associate or so and she was a physician, later on working in nearby Canandaigua. We were invited to their place, regularly, many times during our University of Rochester years.  

And in 1976, I had mentioned to them that I was going to Italy (for nuclear physics summer workshop) and then to India, and that I was planning to utilize the opportunity to find a suitable bride, get married as per our traditions. They wanted to be helpful, and since visa process could be problematic, for additional support if needed, they prepared and gave me a formally signed INS financial support-form document that I could have also used for visa purposes at US Consulate in Madras. I was happy, pleased and thankful for the support given. As a foreign student, I was in touch with the International Student Advisor office at the campus, was following their guidance, advice, and did not have to use any additional support papers, the F-2 student spouse visa was issued for my wife Usha in Madras, in 1976 September, as hoped, as expected, without any problem.

I am Kannada speaking. Halemane means Old House in Kannada. Our village family and house was referred to as "Karinja Halemane", meaning old house in Karinja. My guess is we were perhaps like early settlers in that specific small area, so we became the Old House for newer people, but that is my guess only. Various types of names are there, doDDa mane (Big House), hosa mane (New House) etc,   

I wish I had spent a bit more effort then in IIT Madras to pick up and learn Tamil. Enjoyed seeing some Tamil movies there, also here in USA etc with Tamil speaking or knowing friends

Ednad Village, near Kumbla in Kasaragod District, now in Kerala, it is border region, disputed area (with Karnataka), Tulu speaking region. I am Kannada speaking (Haveeka Brahmin version). I have heard my grandfather  say they were struggling hard during his young years, trying to set up the agriculture I suppose, before the yields started, and there were days when all they had was drink some buttermilk and go to sleep, no other food. But I was luckier while young, we were taken care of well).

You’re right. The plight of small farmers is indeed distressful and that made me think and develop this Model. It needs careful presentation and convincing arguments to get farmers to pool their lands and guided and assisted, technically and financially hand-held, farming cannot sustain. In face hidden profits can be uncovered and overtime these farmers can become self-reliant, as you may have read in the document I sent you.

I am not gainfully employed, and do not earn any money. My wife has been taking care of that from her work salary since T lost my job in 1992, never found a job properly after that till today, so that was a bye for that role for a pretty long time we can say, some small andor temporary jobs were there, that was like pocket money only, and not steady or regular or continuing.

Actually one of my biggest constraints in higher education is pretty normal. Cost, quality and academics.   

My Indian Class X was great with around 89.6% aggregate, while my Indian Class XII was very poor due to personal issues. Around 60% overall.   

So, the biggest gaps in learning abroad is Academic equivalence and even if it’s done, next simultaneous is Cost. So, what are some practical ways to my higher education (Bachelors in CS or related)??? 

I’m ready for Foundation or Preparatory Year too but then comes cost again.

Yeah my research recommends me to take Foundation Year programs. But they seem quite expensive at places like UK etc, so I decide for abroad campus of UK/US universities. Dubai is expensive too, so only option remains is Malaysia 🇲🇾.   

But apart from that, how would you advise me for studying really??? Like for making my higher education easier, what would you recommend given the intense mathematics and physics needed for CS Bachelors Year 1.

Hmmm.. good that you have some workable options. Computer Science major is well helped by preparatory or simultaneous studying of Math, Physics, Engg subjects, and, of course, subjects in other fields may also be helpful, many types of applications are there, inter-disciplinary helps. There is no easy way out of this. If it is a problem for you to study Math etc, perhaps another major would be better ??? Tell me more about your courses and marks / grades. You may also consider countries other than those you have mentioned, including some poor countries which may have a few good colleges also, and countries with non-English languages, which means you may have to study the language of the country for some months initially, before immersing into the actual study field of computers or another field

And yeah, I’m open to any opportunity if it helps me in my studies. As of languages I’m studying German. Not necessary for German but because it’s helpful anywhere in Europe.

I think this photo was taken at Killa / Kinila house of my wife's maternal uncle. They are also closely related to Bheem, thus he is a close cousin of my wife.
