Me (Jai Sanskrit):

I have taught Sanskrit for beginning children here at our HATCC temple for about two years, in later 2000s. It was kind of a big push here. making an important point about the need to teach children, not just the adults enjoying our Sanskrit heritage, and this point was very well encouraged in me by our younger son Shilpi who said to me "it is even more important to teach Sanskrit than Kannada", since at that time I was already teaching Kannada to beginning children at the temple, and I mentioned to him that I was preparing to teach a Sanskrit class for beginning children, as my efforts to get others  more-qualified-in-Sanskrit to start doing the same was going nowhere, and I felt, it looks like either I do it now, or it is not going to advance in the way I felt it needed to advance, despite all the GREAT efforts made by many others, including the highly respected Sanskrit Bharati organization, in India, in USA, worldwide !!!!   

Even then, as I was getting ready to announce my class, Dr  H V Rangachar tried to tell me I should just wait and not start my course, (our hats off to him, many thanks for his wonderful work advancing Sanskrit here at our temple, teaching the adults, and the teachers' teacher, including me), but I disagreed with him, and went ahead anyways, and later on I was happy to pass on the baton to better knowing Sanskrit teachers, it was Raghavan Pratiwadi who agreed to do it, when I wanted to stop after about two years.  Jai Sanskrit.  

I think it was just after I started my HATCC temple class in Sanskrit for beginning children, that I was invited to attend a special workshop for Sanskrit teachers and they invited me to bring along a friend, so I requested Raghavan Pratiwadi also to attend, and we did so, 3 days or so camp, in Maryland, along with the usual VHPA summer camp for Hindu families, many children and parents there, some swamijis also, (including white American), our part of it.   

The Sanskrit workshop for teachers that I and Raghavan attended there was being held by experts from Sanskrita Bharati organization of India. The events there, and the interactions, went very well, GREAT experience, We came back happy about it.  

I have attended andor visited a few other Sanskrita Bharati events here in USA, visited their place (and bookstore) in Bengaluru, their leader Shree Krishna Shastry has visited our HATCC temple and gave a lecture also some 15 or 20 years ago, etc, They have done, and are doing, GREAT work, VERY IMPORTANT.
