Yes, AMAZING, indeed. I remember that, when I was a student there, she (Shakuntala Devi) was invited to our college, that is St Joseph's College, Bangalore, and she did her lecture demo with the whole college attending, VERY IMPRESSIVE, indeed. I think such extraordinary abilities are considered as some kind of "divinely", maybe "siddha" (???) ability or something like that. ADBHUTA, wonder, of course.

illi indian store gaLalli some Indian biscuits available, like Parle-G, not sure about the other one, more recent [product it must be, i did not remember that name right away, although i may have eaten it at some point, but not sure. Generally, in most regular or mainstream shops, very few or none of of India made products or india made eating products are sold, but now things may be changing slightly, towards better, as india cuisine is becoming more common and accepted,like chapatis, urad dal, jackfruit chips etc my wife has recently bought here in Costco, but not necessarily made in India, could be made in USA or elsewhere also.

YES, we words or labels can be somewhat misleading, although legally correct, usually done for marketing purposes, so it becomes our responsibility to do better, that is, our = the rest of us, including govt, media, people etc all included, to make sure the facts, the truths, all factors are widely known, understood, appreciated, and not-compromised to favor falsehoods or wrong perceptions or diminish truth

pranav, YES. and, in 1976, when I came back home from University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, USA to Mangalore for the first time, I was invited to speak to the students, the whole school; audience, they had requested me when I visited them to say hello, at Padua High School (near our home there) where I had studied, and the topic i focussed on in my talk was about the striking public cleanliness in USA compared to India. I had written out that two page speech in Kannada, talked in Kannada. I think I still have a written copy of it in my files here. Generally, everywhere there I made it a point to speak in Kannada language, similar to what I was always doing when I lived there. I did so successfully, not mixing English. And, once, many years later, a cousin relative of mine suggested that I make use of some talking in English also for an invited talk to their students so that they may not think that I speak in Kannada because my English is not that good (!!!). ha hha haaa....

It was actually a good suggestion, from my cousin Vijayalakshmi Subrahmanya, working there as Librarian at the Sanskrit School and College started by our Haveeka Swamiji in Mujungavu near Kumbla in Kasaragod district where I was invited to speak to the students. She knew the audience much better than me of course, and situation then years ago in most parts of the country was like that only, now it is somewhat transformed. I think I may have used a bit of English but mostly spoke in good Kannada. I had decided to do it unannounced, stopping there on my way to my sister Usha Kiran's house near Mulleria, my youngest sister Sudha also with me (and they DID NOT LIKE my bringing Sudha there with me !!!!!!!! = looking back, it gave me important clues regarding the nature of the forces we were facing!!!  It was done extempore, no written speech, mostly like answering questions perhaps (?). However, as years went by, because of not using it enough, my fluency with Kannada was getting affected, and I would use more of English words than during my India visits in the earlier decades of my living in USA.
