The world is a giant global village, and we are just people living in this village. Moreover, we are different from most people; we yearn for a peaceful and beautiful life.

Jan 5, 3:48 PM

I'm glad you understand. I think when we share the same views and ideas, communication becomes much easier and more enjoyable.
I came to the United States from China 15 years ago. At that time, apart from some street problems, everything was pretty good. But now, more and more small problems are starting to appear, and our lives can no longer remain smooth sailing.

Thank you for your compliment. I'm also happy to share my smile with you. Your natural smile looks great too; perhaps it's a genuine smile from your heart. However, there's definitely a lot of commercial vibes in the photo, lol.
You

Jan 5, 7:39 PM

Okay, Xuelin. Thanks for sharing your observations about my above photo, i find it very interesting, and it makes me think back about those times when I had that picture taken in a photo studio in my hometown in Mangalore, India, back in 2009 when I was preparing for running in the Loka Sabha parliamentary elections. The tie was a on-the-spot suggestion and offered by the studio guy. (and it so happened that when I was driving to there, on the way, my elder brother had called, informing the passing away in the night of one of our sisters (Jahnavi, she was not well, so not unexpected at the time, was being taken care of residing at an orphanage type home Bharat Sevashram, since 1990s, for about 15 or so years). I used this photo mostly for the election purposes, I had already done another photo some days earlier in a different studio, but was not happy enough the way I looked in that (ha hha haaaa... !!!!).

Jan 5, 7:43 PM

I'm sorry to hear this, but I was just expressing my honest thoughts about your photo. I think I might not be good at hiding my feelings. Were you also a government official in India?

Honestly, your photo is really great, very formal. Perhaps it reflects your perspective on our friendship, and I appreciate that. I also cherish our acquaintance and the friendship we've developed. If you want your photo to look better or be more memorable, the best way is to let people see your smile and your eyes. People often say the eyes are the windows to the soul, and I think through those windows, people can see the sincerity within you.
You
,
Jan 5, 8:18 PM

No hard feelings, Xuelin, I am sorry if I came across as harsh in my reply above, I am happy that you said what it felt like looking at the photo, and I am sure there is much truth in it, good validity points. Thank You for it. Yes, nicely stated, regarding what you wrote above about eyes... Regarding friendship and formality, it is just that my personality may be viewed as being a bit formal in character, it is because that is how I am in actuality, in true nature, not for keeping more distance. So, please feel free with me, no "formal"-like is needed. Sorry if I came across like that. And, for your other question, the answer is NO, I was not a government official anywhere. Also, I lost very badly in the elections then.

Jan 5, 8:28 PM

It's alright, my friend. I think I prefer sincere and casual communication in any relationship. I'm glad you agree with some of your points; it's important and gives our friendship a clearer direction. I must say, communicating with you is truly a pleasure. Sometimes, we don't need many words to express our true feelings. But you're right, our friendship doesn't need to be too formal; casual sharing and communication are enough. This is the most important part of our friendship. I think we can start with some of our shared interests. Once we discover some common ground, sharing and communication will be much smoother. I apologize for your previous election, but now that you're away from politics, choose to enjoy life. A retirement full of free time is precious. You can also focus on your family now, spend time with them, or do things you enjoy.

You were very handsome when you were young. Honestly, you seem even more attractive to people when you're smiling. And you have two adorable children. By the way, I noticed a post on your LinkedIn account where you shared your children's contact information. You seem quite concerned about their future marriage prospects.

I don't think it will be too difficult for your eldest son, Kavilaj, to find his other half. However, as time goes on, it's perfectly normal for you, as his father, to worry about his marriage. Perhaps he hasn't met the right person yet, and I think it's best to let things happen naturally in matters of the heart.
OK, I'll spread the word about this for you in my spare time. What are you doing right now?
You

Thank You for your supportive words, spreading the word regarding seeking suitable bride for our Kaviraj. Yes, it is ultimately his decision, of the boy and the girl, they have to like each other, talk to each other, and if theyb wish to go ahead, marriage, etc, we bless, do whatever needed help, if possible, etc. I was washing dishes (my responsibility area in the household work). It's alright, my friend. I believe your child will find his bride through his own heart, and optimistic people always have good luck!

It seems you really are a good family man in real life, shouldering your wife's burdens and many of her responsibilities.
I know it there. I go to New York for a period of time every year, and my friend and agent Maria lives there, so I make time to relax and vacation with her each year.
Going to bed early is a great habit; it gives you plenty of energy and a healthy body, which in turn allows you to do everything in life.
Sweet dreams, have a good night's sleep, goodnight!

How are you doing these days? Have you been doing anything you enjoy?
You

Jan 6, 12:38 PM

Yes, I have! = like interacting with you !!! 😘
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 12:40 PM

Lol, that sounds like a good hobby. I really enjoy chatting with you. Our conversations here are always fun. But don't you have many hobbies?😊😊
You
,
Jan 6, 1:14 PM

Not like what most people talk about their hobby interests, almost like professional experts in those. I used to be more interested in some activities in the past, but these days, NOT, really
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 1:17 PM

I understand. However, not everyone has hobbies, and not everyone can maintain them for a long time. After all, people are always changing, and some things we used to enjoy can be affected by external factors, and over time we may not like them as much anymore. But I believe that everyone has the right to retain a childlike heart and to pursue their dreams and do what they love.
You
,
Jan 6, 1:18 PM

👍 Yes, very true
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 1:19 PM

And with so much free time in your life, I think you could try to create some hobbies for yourself during this time. Sometimes I think about how I'll be retiring soon, but I have a plan to travel after retirement. I know it will be fun, even if I'm alone. But I also think about what I should do after this plan is over, what I will do.
I'm glad you agree with this.😎
You
,
Jan 6, 1:28 PM

Yes, I think so, too, Yes, I understand, Yes, I agree 😊 (but I do not feel like having too much time, it is often not enough time, because everything we do consumes time, which is kind of limited. but I agree with all your points, and have seen people saying "bored", wondering how to "kill time" etc. For whatever reason, I am not in that category, fortunately).
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 1:33 PM

I'm glad you share the same views on some things. You're right, life is indeed very short. In our mere 30,000 days, we spend a third of our time at work, another portion with family and childhood, and the remaining time is likely to be spent in old age. So, it's wise to do some things sooner rather than later, and in our limited time, do things that bring us joy and meaning.

Many people do use words like "boredom" these days, perhaps simply because they lack a clear goal in their lives, but I'm glad you don't feel that way.
You
,
Jan 6, 1:36 PM

What activities are you taking interest in these days, in general etc ???
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 1:41 PM

I think I still have many hobbies I can pursue, such as traveling, camping, cycling, hiking, fitness, fishing, cooking, painting, or reading books on politics and economics, like "Years in the White House" and "My Life," as well as books on wineries, rural gold and silver, etc. By the way, do you like the sea?
Taking walks on the beach, and painting, reading, and cooking at home are some of the things I do most often in Seattle now. The weather here really makes it hard to make so many plans.
You
,
Jan 6, 1:53 PM

Sea, beaches are very nice, I guess we could have gone more often all these years, but it is okay that we did only some limited amount, did not do Cruise. We have travelled some, in USA, in India, a bit elsewhere (Europe, Singapore, airports in Seoul, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Dubai etc), cooking a little, reading books, magazines, watching DVDs, TV, you-tube, listening to music, going to concerts, to temple, to restaurants, shops ETC i also do., Here also it is cloudy today.
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 2:12 PM

Cool! It seems we do share some common interests. I haven't tried a cruise yet—it's too slow—but we've tried sailing to Hawaii for vacations and trips. We've also flown to other countries before, such as Istanbul and Marmara in Turkey, eastern Greece, the Aegean Sea region, Tokyo and Kobe in Japan, London in England, Canberra in Italy, and other Eastern countries like South Korea.
You
,
Jan 6, 2:16 PM

Very Nice Xuelin. By the way where in China you are from ???
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 2:17 PM

I have some photos from my previous trip, taken when I was in Germany, and I thought I could share them with you.
I'm from Changsha, Hunan, China. Have you ever been to this city?
Sunflower

Jan 6, 2:24 PM

You
,
Jan 6, 2:38 PM

No I have not been there. Tell me more. Yes, very nice
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 2:40 PM

It is a city located in central China, a symbolic city representing the spirit of Chinese communist culture, and was previously on the shortlist to become China's capital city.
If you like spicy food, this city would be perfect for you.🤭🤭
You
,
Jan 6, 2:43 PM

It sounds good. yes, i like spicy food. what are the buildings seen there ? And you are with ...?? Yes, I like it
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 2:44 PM

I'm so glad you like them. These photos were taken earlier last year when I was traveling in the Czech Republic with my friends. The scenery there was beautiful!
I think Hunan cuisine from my hometown would be perfect for you. Many of my friends from other parts of China say that the food from my hometown is "too spicy," so some girls living there who try it are called "spicy girls."
You
,
Jan 6, 3:03 PM

Yes, I like it
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 3:09 PM

I'm so glad you like this. I'm getting ready for lunch now. Mom made some wontons for us today. It's not very spicy, but it's delicious, lol.

You
,
Jan 6, 3:11 PM

Enjoy!, I finish lunch. Tea time now, sipping it here
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 3:12 PM

I would, but your afternoon tea time is lovely. If the weather in Seattle is sunny today, I'd love to do the same, lol.
You
,
Jan 6, 3:13 PM

👍😘
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 3:14 PM

By the way, what kind of food do you usually prepare for afternoon tea? I heard that the dish "Bo Bing" (a type of flatbread) is delicious in your country.
I don't know what this food is called in India, I think it's called spiced flatbread, right?
You
,
Jan 6, 3:20 PM

Hmmm.. not sure about what it is. I am from south western coastal region in India. Snacks etc are common there with afternoon tea. Here we usually have in the house store bought snacks, Indian or American. We did not eat any today, we do so sometimes only.
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 3:21 PM

I understand. It seems your hometown is also very close to the ocean. I imagine it must be very beautiful there. However, our afternoon tea is similar to yours; we usually buy some snacks or fruits to accompany it.
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 3:36 PM

But have you ever thought about going back to India, or continuing to live in the United States?
You
,
Jan 6, 4:24 PM

Yes, no plans to relocate anywhere this time. It was a big issue to be decided in 1980s and 1990s, not possible or necessary anymore, from any of our family member's perspective, to do so will not make much sense, under prevailing circumstances
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 6:51 PM

I understand. You've been in the US for quite a while now, and I think you've adapted to the local environment. Now that you've settled here to enjoy life, have you thought about what you can do in this city in your spare time?
You
,
Jan 6, 7:12 PM

No, not really
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 7:17 PM

Okay, I understand. After all, everyone's lifestyle and habits are fixed. Sometimes, after adapting to a certain rule or lifestyle, switching to another can indeed be difficult. I experienced this myself when I moved from China to the United States.
You
,
Jan 6, 7:24 PM

Yes, true
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 7:25 PM

However, there's a saying: "Since you're here, make the best of it." Regarding environmental factors, all we can do is gradually adapt to them. After all, it's always people adapting to the environment, not the other way around.
You
,
Jan 6, 7:26 PM

Yes, of course
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 7:26 PM

I think that since we've made this decision, we might as well live here properly and not think about the things that make us unhappy. Instead, we should think about what we can do, which is also a problem that has been bothering me right now.
You
,
Jan 6, 7:34 PM

Yes, I agree, Yes, I understand, Yes, I think so, too, (after a while, some years, adaptation to prevailing situation is more, less about "what we can do" type worry, in other words, doing things without worry, as if it is normal or expected way of life, no need to WORRY or get mentally bothered. Initially that adaptation process feels harder i think.
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 7:38 PM

Yes, life in the United States is indeed somewhat difficult, and we are largely unaware of what the future holds. Therefore, when faced with many life events or policy changes, all we can do is what we can to maintain a normal life, like a straight road. We hope the road will gradually ascend, but certainly no one wants it to descend.
You
,
Jan 6, 7:42 PM

Exactly!, Yes, true, Yes, exactly. You nailed it, Beautifully said by my BEAUTIFUL FRIEND. 👍😘👍
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 7:44 PM

I'm glad you agree with this view, but for these kinds of things, the principle of being prepared is always applicable.😊
My mother taught me this principle, but I didn't truly understand and apply it until I came to live in the United States.
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 8:04 PM

How are you tonight, my friend?
You
,
Jan 6, 8:27 PM

Just finished my work with the dishes, I am doing okay, and you ? Yes, your mother taught you well about being prepared.
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 8:30 PM

You
,
Jan 6, 8:32 PM

Thank you, too 😃
Sunflower
,
Jan 6, 8:33 PM

However, being prepared is indeed a worthwhile principle, but many people still don't know whether it's truly a good thing. The simplest example is the news reports of many people squandering their retirement savings.

Jan 7, 1:33 PM

You're welcome, my friend. Do you have any good plans for today?
You
,
Jan 7, 1:47 PM

No, not really. Staying home, some regular household duties, besides being on the computer, watching TV news etc How about you ?
Sunflower
,
Jan 7, 1:51 PM

I don't have many exciting plans for today, just want to relax at home. It's been raining in Seattle for a week straight, and I haven't known what to do at home. I feel like I've tried everything that could bring me joy, and now it's like I've lost all interest.
You
,
Jan 7, 2:00 PM

I see, What is your job like ? and career field, education ?
Sunflower
,
Jan 7, 2:11 PM

I feel like I'm a laid back person. Aside from running a jewelry design company and managing my investments, I don’t really have much else going on. I studied economics at Guanghua University in China, earned an MBA, and minored in graphic design, which helped me become a designer.
You
,
Jan 7, 2:25 PM

I see, Wow, that's nice, Wow, that's great!, You have lots of good things there, Cheers, 👍😘😄(i am sipping a little gin-drink here, Okay, sorry about that, it is in lighter vein), But, I mean, CHEER UP, and PLEASE DO NOT WORRY. As a starter, in the house, you can help your great loving mother in the kitchen, a bit, and it will help you relax, learn some cooking from her (She will be VERY pleased if you do so, I am sure). Perhaps, you are already doing that, and I apologize for my intrusion unwanted friendly suggestion here if that is the case. There are also other career related things possible depending on your interest.
Sunflower
,
Jan 7, 2:32 PM

Thank you for your suggestion. I think I will take it into consideration. I've never been a stubborn person, and a good friendship is built on sharing and exchanging advice. So don't worry about whether this will offend me. In fact, I'm happy about it. At least it proves that our friendship is moving in a positive direction!

You're absolutely right. I am indeed exploring other areas now, using my identity as a jewelry designer as a stepping stone to enrich and diversify my network of relationships. This will also provide me with more opportunities to achieve my goals and aspirations in my life.

I enjoy cooking and often help my mother and aunt with cleaning and housework. However, most of the time we use a robot vacuum cleaner. Besides, they are getting older. As we talked before, this should be a time for them to enjoy life and not worry about so many troubles.
Sunflower
,
Jan 7, 2:36 PM

I love red wine. To date, I own shares in three wineries in California. Whenever I go to California for shareholder meetings or vacation, I always pick up a few bottles of good wine, or I buy some delicious wines at auctions in the San Francisco Convention Center.
You

Jan 7, 3:06 PM

Perfect! 👍😘👍
Sunflower
,
Jan 7, 3:10 PM

Thank you for your compliment! Just like I said, having certain relationships and a network of connections can indeed bring a lot of help in life. At the same time, it also requires sincerity in treating friends.😉

I've been involved in some stock investments related to artificial intelligence, but the one you shared with me seems to be an AI research lab in a business school, right?
This looks like an investment recruitment notice posted by this academy? Is this an investment you're involved in?
You
,
Jan 7, 3:27 PM

I am not sure about exact nature of it, I just gave it as an example of what seems to be available, and I do not know that much about it, so it is only a small example. I am not into any investments there or anywhere, and I have no connection with that university.
Sunflower

I saw some of the information in that email; it has a certain degree of authenticity and carries some risk. This type of project might be more suitable for seed projects funded by angel investors.
Have you seen any progress in their research?

I understand what you mean. Developing a side hustle and passive income in this field is perfectly reasonable. However, all investments carry risk, especially considering our focus is on the future. Therefore, the most important thing to consider is the inherent risk and stability of the product itself. Maintaining stable returns without significant losses is paramount in this area.

Yes, thanks!, Good Morning. I slept well, 8 hrs, or perhaps a bit more, woke up a bit later than usual after 7 am only, going to bed past 10 pm, perhaps around 10:30 pm or so. Good Sleep, No dreams, as is usually the case. Just a couple of years ago, like in 2023 or so I think, for a few months, I used to dream that I was going for walking naked in the city streets, randomly chosen, not same streets, different ones in different dreams, not clear about imagery, but thinking back at it, it was American streets very likely. And, NO ONE, absolutely no one at all, seemed to have noticed it or was looking at me or was bothered by it, and no one like in my family or friend knew about it also that I was going out naked. This type of dream was happening on often nights for a few weeks or so, and I did not really feel good about it, and was hoping quietly myself that this unusual strange aberration for me would not continue. Later on it just stopped, just like that, by itself, i am back to usual. Very very rarely I may get some bad dreams, usually forgotten soon after wake-up. I may have had a couple of them in recent months.

Good morning, Raya! Hope you have a wonderful day. I slept very well last night too. I had some red wine before bed, which helped me drift off to sleep in a slightly tipsy state, resulting in a good night's rest.

I once read an interpretation of a dream similar to yours in a psychology book. Dreams are indeed related to people's psychology. The book's interpretation of this dream was that people who have this kind of dream generally experience insecurity in life and care too much about external opinions and evaluations. However, it also represents your desire to be your true self, to shed those labeled and pressured roles, and to be an ordinary person. So, it's not something to be anxious about; it's just your inner motivation to be your most authentic self. As for having this dream repeatedly, I think it just means you're not ready yet, but you've already had the idea of taking the first step. When you had this dream, you were probably troubled by something for a long time, right?

Lol, you're welcome, my friend. I think this is just a friendly exchange of help, but I'm glad my advice helped you. It's something I came across in a psychology book recommended by a doctor friend. She said it can reduce a lot of internal conflict in life.

Okay, we (son kaviraj & me only, wife is out attending a funeral service for the mother of a colleague friend) just finished lunch, i made something like a chapati Cassadia (?), my own style, with cheese and onions in between two chapatis, heated and grilled on the stove the hot pan, ate with ketchup, some left-over food (cooked banana, cooked sweet potato, upma uppittu) and the healthy-ragi-malt millets thick soup i has made for breakfast were also there. No interesting plans in the works.

I understand now. Everyday events are indeed quite ordinary, but life always has extra things and plans that bring us a lot of joy, like making a chapatis, an enlarged version of a hamburger. Ordinary life always requires us to create our own happiness, like a blank book. Each day is a brand new sheet of paper, and the content is determined by ourselves. Therefore, innovation and exploration are good ways to make life happier. I believe we all hope that when people read this book, they will praise it with the word "wonderful."😉

You

Jan 9, 8:17 PM

Previously, many years ago, maybe it was in mid 1990s and / or later, but not in last 15 to 20 years, although i would not get dreams usually, sometimes I would get dreams, typically one of two kinds, one was in which I was soaring up in the sky with earth below, and the other type was making love to beautiful women. Both were pleasant ones, and I think perhaps the two types were not in the same dream. I kind of enjoyed those dreams, I think, especially the ones with making love to beautiful women. It was not like I was dreaming every night or night after night, but it happened over the span of some years, I think. Not sure why or when it stopped, but I have not had it or similar types for many years. No problem, The usual good sleep is always the best for me.  (ha hha haaa ,,🙂)

That actually sounds very human. Dreams often reflect different phases of our lives freedom, curiosity, imagination, or simply the mind wandering when it had more space to do so. Flying dreams can feel like a sense of openness or possibility, and pleasant dreams in general are often just the brain’s way of relaxing and exploring.

It’s interesting how they come and go over the years without any clear reason. In the end, you’re right good, deep sleep is probably the best gift of all. 😄

Nothing special, just my usual this and that, on the laptop, at home etc. Currently looking at possibly placing an order for a mug with photos printed on it as a gift to my brother's son in India, may or may not actually do it .. just looking into it costs etc at Shutterfly.com (they are based in Seattle, I have ordered a lot from them like in 2010s, and previously they were known by a different name, and I used to send them all my film rolls for development and printing, I think they were Seattle Film Works, initially, and recommended to me by our friend relative India-classmate Bheem Bhat in 1980s living in Philadelphia PA)

I see. This company isn't far from me. It used to be an old-fashioned photo developing company, but it hasn't gone out of business or anything; it's simply adapted to changing times and transformed into a more socially responsible company. Their current name is PhotoWorks.

It seems you've really met a lot of people from your hometown here. That's a good thing. At least even far from home, you've felt a sense of familiarity and warmth around you. But do you still keep in touch?
You
,
Jan 11, 2:11 PM

I see. Yes, that is the company. Seattle Film Works became Photo Works first, and online business or related business is Shutterfly.com, I guess. And, looking back, I think it may have significance that all my films were going there for development, instead of what I was doing randomly until then, using the free mailer envelops typically kept on near notice boards etc in college campuses and elsewhere (it was different situation then), after 1986 or so, it was all going to this one place because of the suggestion of our good friend Bheem Bhat -aNNa, it was much better, convenient, good quality, price was good / okay etc, and, it gave easier access to the photos for monitoring and / or influencing my relationships, contacts, doings, we can say. Considering what happened later etc, and so looking back, I see possible scenarios regarding why what how etc for various happenings in my life, why various other entities, interests, agenda forces, Deep State entities and actors etc might be interested in such things etc.. Not that it would have changed anything. I do not think so. I have uploaded later digital photos also to their site, so they have all or most of my photos. With BheemaNNa, we are in touch once in a while, not regularly, (we used to be in touch more in the past), he is a retired scientist now doing real estate, he is also my wife's cousin, and married her college friend and neighbor, interestingly we were asked to introduce them to each other to enable the traditional wedding (her family, Pailoor, her father, was well-known and in a leadership type of way in our community / region in India, also in Sai Baba group / organization / followers .... so I have my suspicions regarding that etc = they, BheemaNNa & family) were always very nice, helpful to us .. NO complaints. My observations, guesses or suspicions are about behind-the-scenes hidden invisible agenda forces, and that is LOOKING BACK about why-what-how-etc regarding past happenings, and it does not change anything also) .

Yes, this company seems to have completely changed its name and operational direction the year I came to the US. I must say, their decision at the time was truly significant, but their current development strategy and the company's profits prove that their decision and choice were absolutely correct.

Reasonable pricing and customer service are definitely good ways to retain customers, especially since they already have a large and supportive fanbase promoting them.

It seems you and your cousin have a very good relationship, and one of you works in the business world while the other works in politics. I've also worked in a similar field as him in real estate. If you don't mind, I'd love to meet him and learn some unique market insights from him.

Good evening, my friend. A beautiful evening has arrived. It seems you've been busy with this exquisite gift lately. Regarding your friend Bim, I think it's alright... I don't know if you've ever considered the concept of fate, but every encounter between people is meaningful, just like ours. A chance meeting brought us together, and perhaps in the future, your friend Bim and I will also have the opportunity to become friends. But ultimately, the answer depends on this principle of fate.

My main reason for wanting to get to know him is for business exchange. I have many friends in this market, and I believe this senior colleague of yours, like you, possesses a lot of wisdom and unique ideas. However, you can give me his email address, and I'll try to contact him. Perhaps we'll have a chance to meet and sit down face-to-face for a cup of coffee.

With regards to the wedding of Bheem Bhat Madeyala & Sharada Pailoor, which took place in Mangalore, in early 1980s, around 1982-83 perhaps, there is something interesting, which again, takes more significance for me, LOOKING BACK.  We living in Fredonia NY at the time, were also informed and invited (but not able to attend), and so were our families in Mangalore, India. my wife's side is connected more closely with both the bride & groom's families, also neighbors of the bride's family, so they all went (as expected). My father did attend the wedding, although initially my family there had written to me that they are thinking of skipping it, to which I had replied that it would be best if someone from our family attended the wedding, that my wife & I had a strong role in enabling it by way of introducing, talking to both sides with the proposal,  So, my father did attend to it, looks like because of my encouragement only. However, next time I met him personally there in India, he mentioned that nobody talked to him there, "aaroo maathaaDisiddaville", so he was not happy about it, being ignored and not respected. Until recently I had assumed it was because he and our family are like strangers amidst a gathering of people from their sides expected there for that occasion. But, looking back, and because of the bride's father's leadership role and standing in the community or region there with his strong connection and role in the Sai Baba devotees organization (we are not part of that) etc, the "discounting" and ignoring of my father, of our efforts, even if it was done unwillingly or non-deliberately, has a natural-like feel, with an intrinsic feeling of not to give us too much importance, almost like it is okay to look down upon us, excluded as "other" in some groups or gatherings.  Anyways, .. whatever .., i just let it go, ignored it, it did not affect me / us in any way. Also, I was not looking for any credits from them there. And, it was also unusual for my father to complain like that, he never did. I remember from my young years that he often initiated himself or was in conversations with strangers, like on the bus etc which was not easy for me.

Jan 14, 3:34 PM

I understand, and thank you for reminding me, my friend. However, this memory feels completely different to you now than it did back then. What struck me most wasn't just the event itself, but also the rarity of how your father expressed these feelings, especially when you mentioned he was someone who enjoyed making friends and interacting with strangers, not easily troubled by social situations. This made the matter much heavier and more poignant.

But in today's society, many relationships are tied to self interest. Even those playing important roles can be unintentionally marginalized, which seems like a normal emotion. I think your reflection on this isn't about seeking validation, but rather a rejection of these things and the marks they leave.

I admire how you've let go of such things, but I also believe everyone is different. You must have considered this for a while before sharing it with me. This isn't about reopening old wounds, but rather deepening your understanding of certain things, or perhaps looking at the same issue from a different perspective.

Jan 14, 4:14 PM

He was my college classmate for a short time in 1968-69, I shifted to a different batch after about a month or two or so (wanting to study Math, he was in Biology) and i ate lunch in the same college hostel where he was staying, for the whole academic year. We did not interact much, I had stood First in the SSLC High School exam, in the whole Mysore state (now Karnataka state), so that was a fame or distinction, so people knew me more than I knew them. Afterwards, we met only in USA, he being a close cousin of my wife, we had travelled to St Louis Missouri in 1982, to see him, he was doing PhD there in Microbiology at Washington State University (?)/ Later on, when we moved to New Jersey, he to Philadelphia in mid 1980s, we used to visit each other, many times, so that our two sons and his daughter got opportunity to play together. The kids were happy with it. And we met several times in a year at our community events also. That's how or why the relationship or friendship grew.

It seems you two share a deep connection in life. However, some things that have happened have created a bittersweet feeling in your relationship. But I believe that the fact that you've persevered through so many hardships is enough.

You were truly outstanding in your youth, and the differences in your professional backgrounds shouldn't have created too much of a barrier. Hearing this, I'm curious what led you to decide to enter politics later on.

Perhaps the friendship you forged during this time together will be carried on by your children, continuing this bond.

It was during that trip to St Louis, in 1982 (?), as per the request / suggestion / instruction we received from my wife's parents (must have been by letter), do not know who influenced them or requested them for it, we talked to Bheem about the marriage proposal, and on the way back to Fredonia, we stopped by in Dayton. Ohio to see Sharada (she was studying there for Master's degree (?), living with family of her relatives) and talk / recommend to her about the proposal, then they two must have talked and decide to continue etc

The role you played was actually very meaningful, even if it seemed low-key and inconspicuous at the time. What impressed me most was the dedication and thoughtfulness throughout the process. You took the time to communicate with them individually and gave them space to think and make their own decisions. It didn't feel like interference, but rather like meticulous guidance. Looking back, such moments become more meaningful with time, even if they seemed like ordinary things at the time.

Thank You Xuelin, I appreciate your message. Good Morning. and, I had good sleep, over 8 hrs, waking up at 8:18 AM or so only. And, yesterday was a good day, as I finished things I was waiting to do, one more Shutterfly order (for my wife's sister's daughter Jaya in USA), (I had done the India one previous day, three photo mugs), and typing up that message to you regarding my father at Bheem & Sharada wedding. So, I was pleased with it, and well relaxed, we can say, perhaps. (!!!) 😄😘 Good Morning

How are you, my friend? You seem very busy today.
You
,
Jan 16, 9:13 PM

A little bit busy, since I accompanied my wife at 2 pm to the eye doctor, and then we went and ate brooklyn pizza at a restaurant nearby there (in Hamilton NJ area), were back home after 6.30 pm, we were out for half the day. The pizza was excellent, enjoyed it, also coffee Americano, we also bought there zappolin, it was okay. Do you get good pizza in Seattle ???
Sunflower
,
Jan 16, 9:20 PM

It sounds like you had a busy but fulfilling day, accompanying family to the doctor and grabbing a pizza on the way a nice touch, even if it was mundane. The pizza in New Jersey is definitely top notch the Brooklyn style is classic, and Zappolin was a pleasant surprise.

I've lived in Seattle for 15 years, and to be honest, while the pizza here isn't the absolute best in the US, there are a few places I regularly go to when I crave pizza. Serious Pie: leans towards Italian style, with a carefully chosen crust and toppings.

Via Tribunali: authentic Neapolitan style, simple yet flavorful.

Pagliacci: unpretentious, but the kind you'll stick with after living here for a while.

Seattle's strengths lie more in its coffee, seafood, and the overall cleanliness of its ingredients it's not the kind of pizza city that's all about heavy oil and sauce. However, if you prefer "comfortable, high quality, and reliable" pizzas, you can still find places here that you'll want to return to.

If you ever come to Seattle, I can pick out a place for you based on your taste.

Good morning, Raya. I'm sorry I haven't replied to your messages lately. Last weekend, I received an invitation from a brand to a business dinner, but I was on vacation with my friends at the time. Because of the rushed schedule, I had my assistant bring my dress, and then we drove from Seattle to San Francisco, where we're still here.

It sounds like it's already snowing heavily in the eastern cities. Be careful to keep warm and avoid catching a cold, my friend. I think bad weather is probably the best excuse to stay home, but if possible, going out for a snowball fight and building a snowman is also a great idea.
I hope everything goes well for you lately! Enjoy it!

You
,
Jan 20, 2:11 PM

Good thanks! Yes, staying warm indoors, last two days & nights, mostly teen degrees outside but getting warmer by the bright sun now. Altogether over last few days we had more than a foot of snow at our place, I think. roads now seem to be drivable, we paid someone to clear snow from driveway, cars, sidewalk. and, I have an interesting story from University of Rochester that I wanted to mention, son of China's former leader Deng Xiaping, it seems he studied there in Physics Department, and was in the same office and chair that I had there previously, and it was his afterwards. This was mentioned to me back then, in 1980, by my friends (junior to me) still there. (Oh, Well, Very Interesting !!!, I remember it, and wanted to tell you !)
Sunflower
,
Jan 20, 2:53 PM

Hearing you say that, I can really feel how cold the weather has been these past few days. Thankfully, the sun is out now, and the situation is slowly improving. Having someone clear the snow was a wise decision; it's safe and saves trouble.

Your experience at the University of Rochester was also very interesting. The coincidences in the details of history are truly remarkable. To have any connection with such a background is special in itself. Did this fascinating experience help you in your later work in politics?

I understand your amazement at these historical coincidences, and I appreciate your sharing.
You
,
Jan 20, 3:14 PM

No, it has actually NO relevance for any of my interests, work or activities. Also, I never met the person, or paid much attention to it, since of course, someone, another student perhaps, was going to be in that office and chair, after I left. I just mentioned it here as an anecdote, and, although it was not something that would be in my mind or thinking, I did remember it, and, LOOKING BACK, after all the happenings over the years, I was actually wondering about the possibility that it may have some significance, in the context of the various happenings, our personal as well as worldwide, China-USA-India included. Of course, it does not change or affect anything for me or for anybody, at this time.
Sunflower
,
Jan 20, 3:21 PM

I understand what you mean. Some things are just casual anecdotes at the time, but later, when we look back on personal experiences and broader world events, because time has been stretched and we've accumulated more experience, we put them into a larger context for reflection. Even if this doesn't have any impact on our present lives, the act of looking back and reflecting itself has its own significance.

Oh, that's so sweet of you, and, Hmmm.. that will be fun, of course, building snowman etc., and food world with you. Yes, I am keeping warm, nothing to worry. Temp in the house is much warmer these days, than in previous years, years ago, when only I was at home during the day, wife & sons were out at work or in school etc, so I used to keep the temp much lower, programmed to go up before they returned, saving money that way, which was very important to do for us then, especially in 1990s. but i did that even later, until Covid lockdown time, then my wife started working from home, and we kept the temp higher.

Enjoying this beautiful moment with you is undoubtedly the happiest time. Many years ago, everyone's family was more frugal. If you weren't wealthy, you would live like you were in an economic depression every day. But I'm glad that times have changed. However, I recently saw in the news that many people are still facing this situation. Some people are taking out their 401k to pay their bills in advance, and some are even taking out loans. You can clearly feel that $100 can buy much less than before.

Feb 1, 9:11 PM

I remember that some Chinese people protested at the time. In fact, at that time, Chinese people had a great fondness for going abroad, but for those who were more involved in national politics, it was a kind of betrayal, so it caused a lot of dissatisfaction.

My mother-in-law said something, a very intriguing matter, (and she has mentioned this to me several times), during her visits here in the last few years (that is after her husband passed away in 2022, she is more inclined to talk about her earlier years, herself, family etc.). I think it was about her paternal grandmother ajji, maybe the first one (not sure) of her two ajjis, it was about one such elder, anyways.

It seems that sometime after that elder's marriage, the case was made by the husband's family and relatives or friends or not-very-far away neighbors that the elder's parents were not good people for them, and so she had to stop going there, they cut off all connections with her parents' house, and as a replacement the other family became like an adopted parental house, and she became very close to them, and going there often and also enjoying time with the daughters there in that family, also involving "thale baachuvadu", hair grooming for the girls etc., (helping to take care of them) etc., and which she very much enjoyed, especially since she herself did not have children or  daughters

This is very unusual, and I am intrigued if there was some deliberate manipulation and activity from behind-the-scenes (like Deep State) forces to manufacture or more likely to maintain the already existing local brahmin community DIVIDE, for enabling some kind of divide-and-rule that the rulers in the past needed to facilitate their governance. I strongly suspect that the divide-and-rule practiced in various kingdoms of the past, may have had much stronger social presence or holding on the state of affairs ground situation, than we had imagined or thought likely (???). Divide-and-Rule is made easier when there is no confusion about which side or family or group, among the two or more groups, the said individual or family belonged or is aligned with.
