Yes, I think, rNa is intimately related to Karma, shaping the intrinsic characteristics or intrinsic nature of the individual, 

thus making the person do the things that he chooses to do, like a guidance behind the free will, like intrinsic swabhaava, 

maybe called high level shaping of the "vaasanas" (?).

So, in a sense it is the higher level characterization in Karma theory concepts.

We attended a lecture on Karma Theory by Dr Jaanki Santoke (?) at our HATCC Sri Guruvaayoorappan temple on Friday 2026 April 17, 

that is, me & Usha with Gulab (Shilpi's mother-in-law)

At the end, in Q&A, I asked the question. 

"Is the concept of rNa, that is like a spiritual debt we owe, we can say (?). related to Karma, say like guiding the Purushartha, say ???"

She had explained well that "Purushartha" is part of Karma theory and concepts, and that it is involved in our actions, in what we do.

In response, she explained rNa well for the benefit of the audience in response or trying to answer my question, mentioning, 

rNa to parents, to dEvas, to pancha bhootas, to the system etc 

Otherwise she did not say much directly in answer to my question, I think.She may or may not have said that Vedanta does not get into it.

What do I think ???

in the old photo here we see, Nambi (on the right) with me, at my uncle (father's younger brother) appachchi Mahalinga Bhat H at his Karinja Halemane place (cow shed in the back) in Ednad village, India, in 1989 perhaps (?), photo taken when we visited. Nambi was our well-liked, trusted, capable, dependable, excellent farm worker there in our village property going back to my very young years, and his mother Patalthi, also a worker there, used to carry me or another little sibling, we had about 2 miles walk to catch the bus etc  that is when very little, like toddler or so, .  So I was happy to see him there and took the photo.  Later on, after my grandfather passed away, my father's share of the property was sold, and Nambi used to work for my uncle, I think., my uncle had taken possession of his share, built his new house and moved before then, and my younger brother stayed with our old grandfather in the village old house for a few years, looking after the farms etc, as the rest of us were away in Mangalore and elsewhere
