.. these two conferences made sure that India will get into modern technologies, not just the older second-hand type ones that it used to settle for until then. So, it was the beginning of a huge change, transformation, in outlook, in approach, in philosophy, in policies, in actions, in implementation, etc we can say, and therefore. of course in outcomes afterwards.

It was the beginning of the huge transformations in the East, 

in India, in China, in Asia, and the rest of the world also.

Dear Shree Murthy avarE, A few days ago I came across the two slides and scanned them, photos from the big conference you organized in New Delhi when we were in Bell Labs. It was a session in which I was Co-Chair,  I just wanted to send these to you, and thank you for the opportunity to Co-Chair that session at TENCON 1991 in New Delhi in 1991. GREAT. Much developments, transformations, since then, Bombay in 1989 and New Delhi in 1991. It was the beginning of the huge transformations in the East, in India, in China, in Asia, and the rest of the world.

If we look at the whole world situation, everything included everywhere, we can see that the GREAT transformation started, reversing the status quo continuation, of high technology coming to  the help of countries, and civilizations (non-western) that were deliberately deprived till then, that "reversing"-style modification trend of policies, in small steps initially, actually started after the IEEE TENCON in Bombay India, in 1989, which you had the pleasure and responsibility of organizing, and the whole path of world progress, with modern technology coming to help modern societies truly and in significant ways, the path towards acceptance of that goal, principles and policies. So, that was a GREAT turn-around that got started then, and continuing now. Very Important Happening, Shree Murthy avarE.  There was no looking back after that, no support to go back to old status quo type policies, principles, goals, since everyone, all over the world, is in support of moving forward to the better only, not going back to embrace the old problems. Jai Ho.

in the two old photos here, we see me sitting at the desk in the front, (on the right), as a Co-Chair at one of the sessions at the IEEE TENCON 1991 conference in New Delhi, India, organized by Sri Dr K R S Murthy. I also taught there at the conference, a 3-hour workshop on Optical Fiber Communications, same as what I had done in 1989 in Mumbai, the first such conference in India, also done by Sri Dr K R S Murthy, and these two conferences made sure that India will get into modern technologies, not just the old second-hand type ones that it used to settle for until then. So, it was the beginning of a huge change, transformation, in outlook, in approach, in philosophy, in policies, in actions, in implementation, etc we can say, and therefore. of course in outcomes afterwards.
