As a part of the preparation for the Startup Weekend Bellingham, Big Idea Lab, NWIRC and WWU CBE are cooperating to bring a series of workshops to explore different tools and questions that might be helpful during the Startup Weekend Business Sprint - http://bellingham.startupweekend.org. I thought you might be interested in this set of materials.

The first two workshops are  Android Programming and Grails programming. Both will be presented by Ted Neward from Seattle. They will be held on June 4th. (This weekend) Please register for the class with the links below.

Grails Programming Workshop by Ted Neward

2:30pm June 4th at Big Idea Lab

Grails programming workshop, to go over the basics of Grails and how to use this high productivity framework to put together a project for Startup Weekend.  This workshop will be taught by Ted Neward from Seattle.

Grails is an open source web application framework which uses the Groovy programming language (which is in turn based on the Java platform). It is intended to be a high-productivity framework by following the "coding by convention" paradigm, providing a stand-alone development environment and hiding much of the configuration detail from the developer.

Ted Neward is an independent consultant specializing in high-scale enterprise systems, working with clients ranging in size from Fortune 500 corporations to small 10-person shops. He is an authority in Java and .NET technologies, particularly in the areas of Java/.NET integration (both in-process and via integration tools like Web services), back-end enterprise software systems, and virtual machine/execution engine plumbing.

He is the author or co-author of several books, including Effective Enterprise Java, C# In a Nutshell, SSCLI Essentials, Server-Based Java Programming, and a contributor to several technology journals. Ted is also a Microsoft MVP Architect, BEA Technical Director, INETA speaker, former DevelopMentor instructor, frequent worldwide conference speaker, and a member of various Java JSRs.

Big Idea Lab is located at 114 E Chestnut, Bellingham, Wa
