SB 02.09.34 - Adding 'one' before all the 'zeroes'

åte 'rthaà yat pratéyeta

na pratéyeta cätmani

tad vidyäd ätmano mäyäà

yathäbhäso yathä tamaù

TRANSLATION

O Brahmä, whatever appears to be of any value, if it is without relation to Me, has no reality. Know it as My illusory energy, that reflection which appears to be in darkness.

We should try to relate every aspect of our activity with Krishna and this is practical also. We do not need to put any extra endeavor for relating our activity with Krishna. It is very simple. We just have to add chanting of Hare Krishna Mahamantra in our life for just 10-15 minutes. That’s all. But if we are not adding Krishna in our life & are just endeavoring in acquiring more & more degrees & medals, then that is not actually going to help us in a long term as explained by Krishna here. All such degrees are temporary & are like so many ‘zeroes’ which are actually useless. But if we get Krishna in our life, then He will act as a big ‘one’ in front of these zeroes & then this combination of material degrees(‘zeroes’) & Krishna(‘one’) will be an invaluable asset to us.

So, the lesson is- somehow or other we should try to add Krishna in our life. No need to worry of subtracting anything from our life.
