SB 2.3.10 - An expert doctor curing all the diseases, free of cost!!

akämaù sarva-kämo vä

mokña-käma udära-dhéù

tévreëa bhakti-yogena

yajeta puruñaà param

TRANSLATION

A person who has broader intelligence, whether he be full of all material desire, without any material desire, or desiring liberation, must by all means worship the supreme whole, the Personality of Godhead.

This verse is spoken by Srila Shukdev Goswami to King Parikshit. This verse is one of the important verses of Srimad Bhagavatam. Here, Shukdev Goswami tells us an all-in-one solution to get our all kinds of desires fulfilled.

Let us understand this by taking one example. Imagine a person named Ramu who is suffering from heart disease, skin disease and eye cataract. For him, to get his all the three diseases treated properly, he has to visit the specialist doctors namely Cardiologist, Dermatologist & Optometrist respectively.

But if Ramu comes to know about a world class doctor who is specialist in all the above 3 areas of heart, skin & eye and also he does not charge even a penny from the patient and he is having a record that who so ever has come to him for any disease, his disease is cured from the root, stopping future possibility to get that disease again, what will Ramu do in this situation? Will he not go to this doctor for his treatment? Let us imagine ourselves in place of Ramu. What will we do? Surely, everyone of us will rush to this doctor for getting himself cured soon.

 

Exactly the same case is explained in this verse. Here, Krishna is the doctor & we are the patients who are suffering from different kinds of desires which ultimately create so much stress & anxiety. Krishna is that doctor who is expertly capable of fulfilling all kinds of desires without even demanding for any money. What else do we want? If we have desire for promotion in our job or desire to get good result in the exams or desire to get good spouse or desire to win a cricket match or desire to get our health cured or desire to do devotional activities or any other desire, we should approach an All-in-one specialist- Krishna. This verse makes our job very easy. As per this verse, we need not to approach goddess Saraswati for knowledge, Ganesh Ji for intelligence, Sun god for good health, Indra for rain, etc. For all the above desires to be fulfilled, we just need to approach Krishna. And how should we approach Krishna is also explained in this verse by using the word tévreëa which means forcefully or by all means. So, we should approach Krishna alone for any kind of desires, with full sincerity & seriousness. Being serious means, we should chant Hare Krishna mahamantra regularly & attentively and also we should read Bhagavad Gita & Srimad Bhagavatam on daily basis. By doing this we need not to worry about going to any other demigods to satisfy our desires.

Lesson: In conclusion, we can get 2 practical lessons from this verse:

1.     For any kind of problem, approach no one but Lord Krishna.

2.     Krishna should be approached with sincerity, regularity & seriousness (tévreëa).
