Computer Architecture of the Human System

We must have realized that there are many things we do which we do not want to do, and there are many things we want to do which we are not able to do. Why is it that I am not able to make myself do whatever I want, even if I have a healthy body and a sensible mind?

The mind is the Central Processing Unit of our human system. And if you have noticed, the mind is always bombarded by number of desires, thoughts, regrets etc. There is not a moment when we have control over what we think. And what we do is like the output device – the monitor. The inputs are the senses. They collect input data like what we see, what we hear, feel, smell etc and relay it to the mind. Each input creates a thought, feeling or a willing packet in the mind and the more disturbing the packet, the more it hovers around in Brownian motion (random). And more the number of random packets in the mind, the more difficult it is to channelize them and project the desired thing on the output device.

That is why we need to purify the consciousness. This is like a filter to the relay from the senses. So how does that happen? That process is called Krishna consciousness i.e. fixing the mind on Krishna, because the ultimate goal of life is to realize its purpose (identifying ourselves as pure spirit souls, servant of Krishna) and attains perfection (pure love of God). And the process is very simple and easy to perform.

Here are some simple things you could do to purify your consciousness:

  • Talking about Krishna’s transcendental activities

  • Cleaning His temple

  • Going to His temple

  • Seeing the beautiful transcendental form of the Lord nicely decorated (Darshan)

  • Hearing His transcendental glories

  • Tasting food offered to Him (Prasadam)

  • Associating with His devotees

  • Smelling the flowers and tulasi leaves offered to Him

  • Engaging in activities for the Lord’s interest (Seva)
