SB 4.20.31 – The best prayers we can offer
yathā cared bāla-hitaṁ pitā svayaṁ
tathā tvam evārhasi naḥ samīhitum
-Srimad Bhagavatam 4.20.31
Translation:
Therefore, please do not ask me to take some material benefits from You, but as a father, not waiting for the son’s demand, does everything for the benefit of the son, please bestow upon me whatever You think best for me.
This is a best prayer one can offer to Krishna. Here, King Prithu who was a pure devotee of Krishna is confessing to Krishna that he does not has any personal demand to be fulfilled. Prithu Maharaj asks Krishna that whatever is best for him(King Prithu) should be given to him.
Our mind may suggest us many desires to be fulfilled, but we do not know the effect of fulfillment of those desires on a long time scale. This is known only to the supreme knower Krishna. Therefore, let us always pray, “O Krishna! Please give me whatever is best for me in your eyes”
