Regimental insignia question

A friend of mine was shown a picture of a 11th Cavalry regimental insignia that neither of us had ever seen. It has the normal crossed sabers with the 11 above with what appears to be the letters "CC" below. My guess was that it was either something locally produced and not official or the second "C" is actually a "G" referring to 11th Cavalry Group of WW2. Any info you may have would be appreciated, Thank you.
