Hi, everyone
 
This is the second session of the discussion forum.
 
According to TED speech yesterday, we've got some mis conception of creativity and innovation.
Though we've always thought that they are far from us, they are not that difficult thing and easily find them in anywhere.
The driving force of Steve Jobs was simple thing, belief. Invention of i-sereies stuff (iphone, ipod, ipad) was just strong belief that 
he can do what he wants, he can prove his capability to others and speech taught us that only belief and conviction for ourselves can 
lead us to success. However, in this point, some people can argue that these kinds of ideas are too optimistic and does not face reality
in this complicated societies. Do you guys agree with this?

Hi,

I know that this idea seems too optimistic. But I beg to differ.
Sometimes people pursue only the goal that they believe it as their
final stop of the life.
However, we need to think about the reason why we pursue it before
setting the life goal.
Steve Jobs wanted to know why they needed to make i-series.
He didn't want to make what it makes many profits for Apple.
There are tons of smart phones better than iPhone around the world in
an aspect of technology
but people use and like iPhone rather than other smart phones.
Jobs might have the belief that their product would fertilize our
life.
Life is same. If we need to think about our belief first.
It will guide us to the ideal stop of the life.

As a response to both comments, we have to believe in ourselves and focus on our personal goals so they can be accomplished. Concentrate on what you believe and make it happen.

Steve Jobs was a guy of success who believe in what he was doing. Two week before launching this iphone, he just didn't feel like it was going to be a great success because something was missing. He discover that the screen was not the best screen they had so they had to replace all the screens from every iphone in a a short period of 2 weeks only. Analyzing this case we can se that he put so much effort on accomplishing his goals even though people where telling him he shouldn't and that was what made him successful.

One thing that I have learned in life is that everything happens for a reason. If we have the opportunity to be here at The Washington Center is because something good is going to happen to us, but we have to be aware of every situation that presents to us. Setting some personal goals and fight for them will take us to success.

Accordign to the speaker of the video,Simon Sinek, all of great
leaders think, act and communicate the exact same way.
They ask themselves above all; "what is my belief?"
Of course, it is hard to succeed only if you have a belief without any
knowledge, efforts and technique.
However, I think the most important requirment for success is your
belief; the reason why you have to do when ohter options are similar
or same.

I totally agree with all your arguments and  like as you guys mentioned, we have to believe
ourselves and focus on our personal goals. Besides we should consider about the main 
reasons and meaning of our lives. However, if we only focus on point of success for our lives,
belief and  conviction for ourselves all are useless without any abilitities to prove. Not only
abilities, but also attitude, experience, passion all are neccessarily required for success of
our future lives and we have to concentrate on what we believe, make great effort to make it happen.
Just without retaining capacity and competence, strong belief cannot take an effect on us and
cannot guide us to the ideal destination of the lives. So I do partly agree with the idea that I posed
above and we got to develop our own competency to live in this severe competition societies.

 I absolutely agree with the idea that belief and conviction are the keys to success. I my opinion, for an entrepreneur, believing and having strong convictions will always make him passionate about what he is doing or what he would like to achieve. In this competitive world we are living in, passion is what everybody needs in order to accomplish his goals. A passionate person has a strong ability to overcome all kind of challenges he will face. Moreover, passion will generate a culture of excellence in all his endeavors.

Hi,

You can make the statement that those ideas are too optimistic and
does not face reality in this complicated society, I will agree that
people can make an argument based on the prescribed method of success.
Just because something worked for someone doesn’t mean it will work
for everyone. I feel very strongly though that a clear vision and
confidence will help lead to success.

As we saw in the video, people will buy products because of 'why' you do it, not because of 'what' you make. In short, we should always pursue some kind of goal in order to be commercially successful. Whether this statement is true, is the question.
I think it depends quite a lot on what kind of products you want to sell to the market. For Apple, the 'why' component plays a major role in the selling process and is the key factor to success. But a farmer will not be so concerned about deeper reasons why he actually produces apples. So in my opinion, Simon Sinek's theory is completely true in relation to luxury or hightech products, but less so in primary products.

Yacintha you are totally right that's such a good post, its impressive
how much we can learn from such innovative companies as Apple. But as
well, we saw on Richards St. John's video we need some more steps to
succeed, and I consider that the reason all these leaders have had
success is cause they are working towards answering their "what" with
passion. The best example is Mark Zuckerberg Facebook CEO started this
webpage for entertaining not for earning money, there are lots of
example. Definitely this TED video is one of the best ones, teaching
us you need to push yourself or tell your mom to push you haha, but
that no matter sometimes you feel like falling you need to persist
trying, focusing and working hard to accomplish your goals. Meanwhile
we are at Washington we can practice practice and practice to achieve
our professional development.
