To: GRAMS Scholarship Recipients
All GRAMS scholarship recipients were sent a request to respond to a survey that needs to be completed so that we can report your responses to the National Science Foundation. That is the federal agency that provides the money that pays for your scholarship.
We are required to submit this annual report so that agency will continue to provide the money for your scholarships.
A reminder was sent to you to respond to this survey. Of the 22 active scholarship recipients only 8 have responded. Responding to this survey would have only required about 15 minutes of your time.
It is discouraging to me that so many of you who are receiving so much money are so reluctant to contribute such a small amount of your time to meet this requirement.
Furthermore, we have sent multiple requests to you to provide very simple answers to three questions and some of you still have not responded.
We will report this to NSF and will find out if they are willing to accept this low response rate or if they will terminate funding of the program. I will notify you later of their response. But if they are willing, the lack of response of some of you to our repeated requests for information will be taken into consideration in decisions about the renewal of your scholarship. These requests are serious and I do not consider them to be overly burdensome in exchange for the considerable amount of money that is being provided for your benefit. The failure to respond indicates to me your lack of interest in further participation in this program.
Sincerely,
Bob Midden
