Dear friends and colleagues,

We are very excited to present Prof. Ichiro Tanioka as our next speaker in the Ludic Languages of Asia lecture series. Prof. Tanioka will give a talk on the early history of Go in Japan on Wed 13 May, 10:00 CET. You can find the full details here:

Prof. Tanioka is the President of Osaka University of Commerce and a leading expert on the history of Go in Japan. It is a rare occasion for him to lecture on Go in English and we hope that you will all take the chance to learn from him.

The lecture will be hosted jointly by the organizers Jacob Schmidt-Madsen, Daniela Trinks, and Frank Rövekamp. Registration is NOT required. You can join freely via Zoom: https://eu02web.zoom-x.de/j/68564259061

Video recordings of previous talks in the series - including the highly succesful talk on the origins of Go by Chihyung Nam - can be found on the ASTRA youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ASTRA-MPIWG

Please share this announcement with anyone in your network who might be interested in participating.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible!

Best regards,
Jacob
