Louis Becq de Fouquières’ ‚„Les jeux des Anciens“ from 1869 was the first concise study of ancient Greek and Roman games. It is still referred to nowadays, especially by French-speaking scholars. The chapters in this volume explore Becq de Fouquières methodology, his sources, his arguments and conclusions in order to evaluate which of his insights are still to be taken into consideration — 150 years after the publication of the first edition.
