microRNA seq aligning with SOAP2

I have recently begun using SOAP2 for small RNA sequencing alignment to a certain parasite genome. I am interested specifically in miRNA, but I find that in my hands SOAP aligns only inserts of at least 27 nt. Is a change of parameters possible such that shorter inserts are included?
