Urban Sprawl - too sprawling

I am about to play Urban Sprawl for the first time. After watching bot
Tom Vasel and Scott Nicholson talk about downtime, I was wondering if
anyone could recommend the short game variant as being OK for first
timers.

I Played It once, so I don't know if I'm the best person to respond,
but I think you will get a good idea of the game if you play the short
version. There are so many things going on in the game, you will
probably need to play through once before really getting the basics of
the strategy. I wish that I had payed the short game my first go-
round. I think we would have had a better experience overall, and
would probably be more likely to play again.

Despite others, I really like the game. The only thing that takes the
most time is calculating property vales. Unfortunately the file is on
BGG that helps with that. You can make a diagram of the board on a
piece of paper and then just change the values in each square. This
speeds if up considerably.

Don't play the short version!
I did the first time with my group and it ended horribly. The longer
game isn't that much longer.
