My 15 yo son has a few of his buddies over today for a sleepover. We
played the Resistance and they absolutely loved it. At the end of an
exciting game, one of the boys vigorously revealed his card to show he
was NOT a spy! In doing so, he bent the card. Bad. A big ol' crease
down the middle.

Please excuse me while I go breathe into a paper bag (It's only a
game, it's only a game, it's only a game...).

The good news is that there's another printing of this game in the works that may add some features, like text on some of the cards and so forth, so you might have bought a new set anyway...

It's only a card, it was an accident, and it happens to everyone.

Just get some opaque-backed sleeves and put the role cards in them.
Problem solved.

(One of the few times I actually endorse sleeving)

I had something similar happen with my copy of Dixit. Well, someone
wasn't being careful and sat on them. Two cards are now unusable. I
light heartedly gave them a hard time. It's a shame, but it happens
when you actually play your games. I'm not a big fan of sleeves,
especially with opaque backs. I like to see the art on both sides of
the cards.

Fortunately Resistance isn't too expensive.

Had the same thing happen to one of my role cards and got in touch
with Indie Boards and Cards to see if they sold replacements
(con...@indieboardsandcards.com). The owner was happy to send me a
new card free of charge and without charging shipping. Very cool
people!

Yep... it's fantastic that most board game publishers have outstanding customer service like that. It's like they actually appreciate their customers and supporters... a rare occurrence in this day and age. :)

I've had the same good experience with Ystari(My copy of Caylus came without the little round markers for favors and such) and WizKids (Quarriors dice production issues, i.e. a ROUND assistant die, which actually made me laugh). That's why we support these people, they're us! :)

Remember that, unless you are playing with 10 players, yo don't need
all the resistance role cards.

On your place I would have chopped his head off, shrunk it and kept it
with the game, so future players would pay more attention to what they
do :)
