While Aldie and crew valiantly work on getting BGG up, I did what one
is supposed to do in such times - I played a game! Specifically, our
group finished our latest Axis & Allies 1940 Global campaign, and it
was a rather tense finish. The Axis surrendered at the end of Turn 11.
I almost blew it for the Allies as the UK, letting the Germans pull a
late-game Sea Lion on me, but the Americans bailed me out and by the
end, the Russians were in Berlin and the Japanese were on their last
legs!

So, what did the rest of you guys play today while we all wait for our
favorite website to resume operation???

I had a great day gaming with my son. Asher is only 7, but very gifted, he has aspergers. I tried Rune Age with him last week and he loved it! So I went out and picked up Runebound this week, i had it before but traded it away awhile ago, and we played today, it was awesome, his favorite game so far. He picked it up immediately and he smoked me, it was a great time!

Runewars is next!

A friend and I got together and played both 1960: The Making of a President and The Isle of Doctor Necreaux.

I tell you, those two games are perfect compliments to each other -- each possessing something the other lacks.

I played two games late into the night. Agung came over around 8 and
we started FAB: The Bulge, which I handily won as the Germans in the
first Sudden Death round.

We then proceeded to Agincourt (from Men of Iron) where I took the
French and boldly charged to my death. It was a shameful defeat to go
with my earlier glorious victory. Went to sleep at 4am. About to get
onto an 18 hour flight so I could almost care less.

Ooh, what's Old Men of the Forest like as a game? I like the idea of it.

While 'moi' played "EuroRails" and WON much earlier on my PC, with yet an ongoing GAME of "A&A"-1941 nearing completion afterward. The AXIS overran quite a bit early "on", and now the Allies are closing "in" as usual. Heading back unto this right after posting here.

On Thursday, a new set of gaming goodness arrived, so this weekend, my
son and I found various people to play with. We played one game of
Lords of Waterdeep at each player level (2P, 3P, 4P, and 5P). I have
to say, that game is great. Kudos to Wizards, who have, in a short
amount of time, Vaulted othe top of my publisher list.

We also played a game of Space Empires 4X. We are yet to play with
the advanced components (i.e. the MS Pipelines, etc) but tonight we
were playing a three-player game, teaching a friend to play, and we
fed in an unknown amount of Doomsday Machines. It turns out we fed in
two out of the three, and my Son ended up having both of them
extremely close to his system. Through some coaxing from out friend,
he brilliantly managed to lead one Doomsday Machine away from his home
system and into my inner system. I lost four ships just trying to
enter a black hole space to try to get a killing black hole dice roll
on them. Awesome time.

We played
Eclipse (5 player)
Ticket to Ride Legendary Asia (5 player)
Mundus Novus (5 player)

I was 2nd in the epic game of Eclipse, but the dramatic, running-away loser in the other two games. TTR Asia is really HARD with 5 players... don't keep your long ticket!!

We had out first go at Blood Bowl Team Manager The Card Game with four
players.
Just as in the original board game, the Wood Elves used their speed
and scored points while the Dwarves, Orcs and Chaos was busy beating
the crap out of each other.
Great fun.
