The site is down, yes. It is inconvenient, yes.
But the small BGG technical team works hard to make sure things are going great. If you wish to make a difference in how often the site goes down, give them more money! Click on ads, donate, buy/sell games through the marketplace, all of that.
Until they have enough money they can't be a 24-hour uptime site like Amazon or Google. There simply isn't the resources available to make that happen.
Thanks for the hard work, BGG team. It'll be up soon I'm sure :-) Just don't be afraid to ask the community for technical help problems. It seems that there is a lot of technical experience sitting behind the keyboards out there.
