A few weeks ago two publishers announced a giveaway of games, as a way of promoting their company; the condition was you had to subscribe to their newsletter.  The lists were eventually pulled down because of BGG policies about these things, but not before they had several days of limelight, plus a ton of thumbs and a large amount of new subscribers to their newsletters.  One publisher was Pandasaurus, the other was Tasty Minstrel.

Pandasaurus Games followed through on their promise, and still gave away a large number of games to their newsletter subscribers as promised.  Good for them.

What about Tasty Minstrel Games?  The original giveaway was posted by Michael Mindes under the title "TMG Closet Giveaway - EuroGame Edition", and included Le Havre, Yinsh, Power Struggle, Hansa, Niagara, Sun Sea & Sand, and Kingdom of Solomon, and the winners were going to be announced on March 14th.  Quoting from the original list: "winners will be randomly selected from the pool of subscribers on Wednesday March 14th, 2012. And yes, I will be paying to ship them out to you..."    That was more than two weeks ago.  I haven't seen anything posted from them announcing winners, and there hasn't been anything announced in their newsletter either.  Or did they just take the free subscribers and run, without giving away anything?

I spoke with michael about a missing piece to my alba longa game
around that time, and he was having a baby. Well actually his wife
was, but I imagine it was lost in the mix of (OH OH I GOT A NEW MINI-
HUMAN) He will get back to us I am sure.

Besides, Tucson is like a fourth-world country. News can take forever to make it in and out of there... :)

I hardly think that the baby came as a complete surprise - usually you get about 9 months warning that one is on the way, don't you?! :)

I'm sure he knew about this impending arrival when he posted the giveaway contest and decided on the March 14th date for it to close, so it's not unreasonable to expect something to have been announced by now, surely?

At any rate, am I right that nothing about winners of the seven games has been announced until now?

A TMG newsletter (#15) was sent out on March 22nd, which announced the brith of his daughter and gave a bunch of info about a bunch of games in production...nothing about the competition winners though...

It is an unreasonable expectation to expect babies to follow any sort
of timetable in regards to birth. So yes, you are being unreasonable
in your expectations.

Thumbing!

Agreed. Something for free... let's freak out about it! Michael has
always been true to his word before, and I'm sure he will be now, too.
If you've ever been one of the adults in a household with a new baby,
you know how brain-numbingly exhausting it is, even if it's not your
first. Be patient.

It was easy to have that newsletter "in the can" except for the
details about their new baby girl; announcing contest winners actually
takes a real-time effort. I'm sure he will do it soon.

Let's hope the man comes through with the giveaway, and all the best to him and his family with the new baby.
