What is the best way to find out about the new boardgames that have just been released or that are coming out soon? I feel silly for not knowing.

The Dice Tower News maybe?

search and subscribe to Geeklists, with titles such as "upcoming games.."  or "2012 new releases" or "games I'm looking forward to", etc etc.

Also, check out Kickstarter.com as well as other game sites, like www.beastsofwar.com

Lastly, check "The Hotness" as games picking up steam will appear on this list.

Most of the usual suspects have been covered already.

If you're wanting a more comprehensive list you can also use the advanced search and limit results to the single year you're interested in. (even the following year, though that will yield far more results in each successive quarter as we get closer to it)

If you care about being first to know, subscribe to Eric Martin on BGG, as he posts photos to BGG before writing them up.

Also, if you have the time, you can track each new game added to the database.  Many of these will be obscure 1932 games or 1970s games, but if you have the time and inclination, . . .
