Chapter 18: Conclusion -- The Perfection of Renunciation
Verse: 59
yad ahankaram asritya
na yotsya iti manyase
mithyaisha vyavasayas te
prakritis tvam niyokshyati

Translation:
If you do not act according to My direction and do not fight, then you will be falsely directed. By your nature, you will have to be engaged in warfare.

Explanation:
Earlier in chapter 1, Arjuna had declined to fight giving various reasons. In this verse, Krishna summarizes His explanations by succinctly stating that since Arjuna is ksatriya, he will eventually fight. Better for him to fight under the directions of Krishna, than just his own whimsical fancies or propensities. This is the secret of Krishna consciousness, to act as per one's own propensity - but for the pleasure of Krishna.

One who does not act as per the instructions of the Lord is always falsely directed. These instruictions are given in the scriptures and by the guru. Every one is forced to act as per their intrinsic nature. However one who acts as per their nature and the instructions of the Lord can be truly successful. Srila Prabhupada mentions, "No one should neglect the order of the Supreme Personality of Godhead or the order of the spiritual master, who is the representative of God. One should act unhesitatingly to execute the order of the Supreme Personality of Godhead - that will keep one safe under all circumstances."
