SKyPAC, in partnership with Orchestra Kentucky, announces auditions for the musical theater classic
West Side Story.
The classic tale, inspired by Shakespeare's
Romeo and Juliet, tells the tale of immigrant families on New York's West Side and the plight of young star-crossed lovers attempting to create an idyllic world for themselves despite the warring
gangs - the Jets and Sharks - from which they come. Director Jim Hesselman, Assistant Professor of Theatre at Indiana University and well known for his directorial work at Music Theatre Louisville asks that those auditioning as members of the gangs be able
to portray young people approximately 16-25 years of age. There are also roles for four non-singing adult males.
