WE NEED YOUR HELP! On Tuesday, November 11, 2008, Earnhart + Friends will be hosting an "Evening of Art" at the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Bowling Green, KY. This special fundraiser will benefit The NOMID Alliance which is a non-profit public charity dedicated to promoting awareness, proper diagnosis, treatment, and improved care for all people with CAPS (Cryopyrin –Associated Periodic Syndromes). CAPS associated periodic fever syndromes are members of a growing family of auto inflammatory diseases. The enclosed brochure details the varying diseases associated with CAPS. The purpose of this fundraiser is very simple. One goal of The NOMID Alliance is to continue to increase awareness about CAPS. Earlier diagnosis and treatment of these rare syndromes, especially in early childhood, could greatly improve the quality of life for CAPS sufferers. CAPS disorders are very rare so many doctors are still unfamiliar with these syndromes. Our hope is that more CAPS patients can have an accurate diagnosis, and improved access to the most beneficial care and treatment available. We are also hoping to encourage the medical community and pharmaceutical groups to continue researching treatments for CAPS. As an artist, we invite you to help make this special evening a huge success. We invite you to donate a special piece of art for the event to be auctioned. We would like to feature paintings, photography, pottery, etc. We would ask that we receive your art by October 15th with a request of what to do with your art piece if it does not sell (return the piece, donate the piece to the NIH or Children's Inn, etc). Another very special aspect of this fundraiser is that we will also be featuring artwork of many of the children that are affected by CAPS. These special creations will be coming from children all over the country, and a few from overseas. The children will be displaying their own creations of art on 8x10 or 10x13 canvases. The children and their families will also be providing a brief bio of how the CAPS syndromes have affected their lives. Many of these children are involved in a protocol at The National Institutes of Health. You may be asking why The NOMID Alliance is important to me, and why are we trying to raise funds to support more awareness for these syndromes? My wife and 10-year-old daughter are both affected by CAPS. This genetic condition has affected our family for many years. My wife, Jennifer began serving on the Board of Directors for The NOMID Alliance in 2006. We feel very strongly about this cause because there is so much work to be done in the areas of raising general awareness of the syndromes, more research, and the education of physicians about CAPS. Our hope with this fundraiser is to help in some small way to help these goals become a reality and to help the many adults and children who suffer daily with these syndromes. We hope you will join us in this effort and make this "Evening of Art" a special event. You will be making a difference in the lives of so many. Thank you for your consideration of this event. If you should have any questions, please don't hesitate to call myself or Dena Mullinax here at the agency. We can be reached at 270-842-8020. All the best, Tim Earnhart President & CEO Earnhart + Friends Advertising
