It's official, The DC Bass Strummit is on for March 27th, 2010. The
Strummit workshop for bass players will feature three instructors for
this session, Jason Moore of Mountain Heart, Mike Conner of Sandy Ridge,
and bass & bluegrass legend Tom Gray, who's current gig is The Legends
of the Potomac. The Strummit will take place in conjunction with the
first annual DCBU Bluegrass Festival at Langley High School in McLean,
VA which features Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Mountain Heart, The
Patuxent Partners, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, and Bill Emerson &
Sweet Dixie among others. The DC Strummit is brought to you by D'Addario
Strings, Wondermart Design, and Budweiser. And here's something very
important, the class is limited to the first 30 students, and those
folks will receive a set of Medium Tension 3/4 bass strings from
D'Addario for their participation, valued at $225!!!!!!
So if you're
not a bass player, but your significant other is and you'd
like to tag
along, you'll have plenty to do while your bassist is
perfecting their 1-4-5
licks. The workshop class begins at 10:30 AM, and
the DCBU Festival opens
its doors at noon, with the first performance
beginning at 1 PM. The
Strummit breaks for lunch from 1 PM to 3 PM to
give students a chance to
relax and see some of the early acts on the
show, then we'll get back to it
from 3 PM to 5:30.
