Hello all,

There we are, 4 piece (guit/bass/mando/banj) with a sound guy who knows it
all, we all have 57s and 58s but he wants to use his own mics (none
matching, of course), mismatched monitors behind the band pointing into the
mismatched mics, snake leading to the side of the band where the mixing
board is, column speakers out in front where neither band nor sound man can
hear them, etc etc. He wanted a direct out from my bass pickup/preamp and
like a dumbass I left my amp in the car and did it his way.

Due to circumstances, it looks like we are stuck with him for gigs in this
particular venue.

I want to salvage this by...

1. Doing my own bass sound. My bass has two pickups leading to a 2channel
K&K preamp (EQ flat) hooked on my pocket, leading to a Fishman platinum that
I use for a little bit of compression and EQ, and that leads to the amp
behind us. No direct out at all.

2. single condensor out front for everybody to play and sing into. I have my
choice of several I can borrow for a gig or two, then buy one for ourselves
later, once we find what we like.

3. mains out front, pointing out

4. sound man "mixes" this with headphones

5. monitor(s) placed ...where?

--------
Alternatively, we can at least move the existing monitors and insist on our
own 57s and 58s.

Oh, and the dobro player/singer will be back for the next gig, and he likes
his pickup and volume pedal.

-Your thoughts?

Thanks, Joe
