When doing autogen.sh (or configure), I was given an error related to AC_PYTHON_MODULE unrecognized token. It turns out I needed to install the autoconf-archive with apt-get install.

Once done, I had a bug on bfproftest.cc , missing the usleep function. Just add #include "unistd.h" on top of fs/bfproftes.cc , and run make again.

Right. I added that include in bfsync git now.

It should not be required if you use the tarball and run configure. As far as I
understand it, configure scripts include everything they need.

If you're using autogen.sh, this is different. You need autoconf-archive then.
I've updated the web page, so it now lists autoconf-archive as required package
if you build bfsync from git (and use autogen.sh).
