Dear colleagues,

Here we would like to provide a list of updates on our ICBO 2022 conference on September 25-28:

First, we have the first version of our tentative agenda or schedule ready:

https://icbo-conference.github.io/icbo2022/icbo-schedule/

pdf: https://icbo-conference.github.io/icbo2022/ICBO-2022-Scheduling.pdf

As you can see from the draft agenda, we have a very rich program with 9 workshops and tutorials, about 20 full-length papers (journal articles or conference papers), posters, 2 keynote and one special arranged speakers, campus tours, hiking, grill dinner, etc. A more detailed agenda is planned to be released next week.

Note that we would also like to announce a new specially arranged workshop in which many of you may be interested:

Title: “First Workshop on the Role of Ontologies in Biomedical AI (ROBI)”

Organizers: Robert Hoehndorf and George Gkoutos (thanks!!)

https://icbo-conference.github.io/icbo2022/workshops-and-tutorials/#first-workshop-on-the-role-of-ontologies-in-biomedical-ai-robi

See more information about ROBI and how to participate from the above website and from Robert’s email announcement sent yesterday.

Another update:

“Poster Abstracts: 1 page extended abstract format, with limited references, due August 25, rolling notification starting July 15.”

https://icbo-conference.github.io/icbo2022/call-for-submissions/#call-for-icbo-conference-papers-and-abstracts

So we welcome more late break poster submissions. If possible, please inform more who may be interested in submitting.

Also, remember to register soon as instructed in the earlier email below. The early-bird registration deadline is August 31, 2022. See more information here:

https://icbo-conference.github.io/icbo2022/icbo-registration/

note: On-site attendance requires payment, but virtual attendance is free. If you plan to attend virtually, you are required to fill out a registration form in order to receive the meeting's Zoom link. See more detail on the above website.

We have also provided more hotel options as seen:

https://icbo-conference.github.io/icbo2022/icbo-hotels/

Please let us know if you have any questions or comments.

Best,

Oliver He

On behalf of ICBO 2022 conference organization

Subject: ICBO-2022 conference registration site open

Dear colleagues,

As introduced here:

https://icbo-conference.github.io/icbo2022/icbo-registration/

You can now register for the ICBO-2022 conference using the following website:

https://umich.irisregistration.com/Form/ICBO22

Meanwhile, we have recommended a few hotel options for you:

https://icbo-conference.github.io/icbo2022/icbo-2022-hotels/

you can also use hotel booking tools such as Expedia.com to find more choices.

Note: Due to a football game at Ann Arbor on September 24, it is likely hard to book a hotel room on September 24 (Saturday) in downtown Ann Arbor or near the conference venue. If you want to come on September 24, you may have to book a room in some hotel with some distance from the conference venue. However, you should be able to easily book your hotel rooms after the day of September 24 anywhere. We also suggest that you book your hotel room early if possible. We apologize for any inconvenience it might cause to you.

The recommended airport is the Detroit Metro Airport (DTW):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit_Metropolitan_Airport

which is 26 miles (about 30 min of driving) from Michigan League.

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/DTW,+Detroit+Metro+Airport,+Detroit,+MI+48242/911+N+University+Ave,+Ann+Arbor,+MI+48104

you can easily use UBER or Lyft to request a ride to Ann Arbor. It is also possible to make some special pickup arrangements from the airport, which we will consider later.

Please let us know if you have questions on this.

Thanks,

Yongqun "Oliver" He, and Stella Zhou, University of Michigan Medical School

Alexander Diehl, University at Buffalo

Asiyah Yu Lin, National Institutes of Health

Sivaram Arabandi, Ontopro

William Duncan, University of Florida

Hande Küçük McGinty, Ohio University.
