Good day,

I got this fishy email about how we could purchase beyondagile.com (since we only own beyondagile.org). What do people think about this? Is this just spam or could it be real? What is the ethics around this? Are we interested in getting this domain name?

We are selling the domain name beyondagile.com.  Since you own beyondagile.org if you would also like the more desirable .com we are making it available.  The cost is $99.97.  That includes a year of registration and transfer of ownership to you.  To purchase or to learn more go to:

http://www.dcinchq.com/checkout.php?domain=beyondagile.com

If you pass on this opportunity someone else could purchase this domain and it may not be available again.

For questions contact us or go to:

http://www.dcinchq.com/faq.html

If you are not interested there is no need to respond.  We will not contact you again regarding this domain.

Based on email I received on this subject I have decided not to get
this domain name or interact with the group who sent it. Thank you.

I am confused.  If you go to whois or even yahoo domains and request beyondagile it returns beyondagile.com as available. You can get it for $9.95.  You try it and see if I am wrong.

Yes, this is a reason for not working with the company who sent this
to me and why I feel dumb for not doing basic research. I do remember
that the .com version was not available when I first got the .org
domain so I assumed it still was not available.

As for whether to get it, since we are a non-profit (loosely organized
at least) the .org is more fitting for our needs, as someone has
pointed out to me. Does that work for the group?

There are lovely folks out there, often in cahoots with registrars,
who tie up names after one does a lookup on them to see if they're
available...then they try to sell them to you when you register a
similar, lesser name. Nice, eh? Moral of the story: never search for
a name that you're looking for -- try to register it immediately with
a reputable registrar.

If we ever care about beyondagile.com, trust me -- it'll become
available. My blog's .com domain name has popped up after a year of
someone sitting on it.

Non-profit? Heck, we're non-organized, non-structured, non-
everything! ;-)

Cheers.

Sheldon --

beyondagile.com was registered to some presumably nice folks in July of this year. We're happy enough with beyondagile.org...and will be even more so when we have more events in 2010! ;-)

See you then.

+ Michael
