I had a problem with my model 5's. One was distorting and made a loud
feedback sound all of a sudden. When i checked the voltages on the
transducers, I found that they weren't normal. The problem turned out
to be that there were particles between the diaphram and the staters.
Some of the particles appeared to be from the expoxy that the
transducers are cast with and others appeared to be like sawdust.
After vacuming the transducers out and reassembling them, all voltages
were fine and speakers once again sound wonderful.
I hopes this helps someone else if they have a problem
like this. Rick, hope you see this.

I do.

I apologize for that stuff being there and for the trouble it caused
you. I did vacuum them after I machined them to size. I also blew them
out with my air gun many times, like after every cut, but I must not
have gotten it all. From now on, I will also wash them in warm soapy
water and then rinse them in clean warm water before I blow them clean
with the air gun.

Larry in Chicago was having trouble with the transducers in his Model
3's. He wanted to know if water could damage anything in the
transducer. There is nothing that water can hurt so I suggested washing
them in room temperature water and then blowing them out with an air
gun. It worked well for him.

I thought that I had gotten yours clean, but I obviously hadn't. I'm
sorry. Rick
